I hurt my back yesterday doing the house work ( proof that house work is bad for your health lol) and I have strained my back, I dont think I have pulled a muscle as im up, but not going into work. It hurts from the nape of my neck and down the spine and shoulder blades, and feels worse when i lie down. Any tips on easing the pain?

Take a couple of IBUPROFEN, it is for inflammation and swelling.

Get someone to massage your back with Asparcream or a Menthol rub of some sort. It will do wonders.

Lay on an Ice pack, it will help reduce the pain and swelling.

A Chiropractic adjustment and massage will do wonders, and probably get you pain free in a day. This is the one I would do first, it sounds like you have a pinched nerve from a shift in a vertebrae.

Oh yes, bend your knees when you lift. Good Luck, I hope you feel better soon.

Take 2 Percogesic and 2 Advil at the same time. You can take this combo every 4-6 hours. If after a day, it's still bad, you need to see a doctor.

This is what my doc suggested to me. The combo works very well, I have found. Percogesic can be purchased over the counter at your local pharmacy.

you should rest for about a week, bad backs can sometimes be incurable and the pain is so excrusiating, so i sympathise.
Try deepheat, ask someone to rub it onto your back and neck. Take painkillers and try to get a massage. If none of this works it maybe you should visit your doctor and he may prescribe stronger painkillers. good luck.
