it goes back to the time of queen Victoria she wanted a white dress and then every one wanted a white dress.
If you watch a lot of old movies you will see that the bride does not always wear white she may wear s different color if she was unable to and did not want to wear white.
I chose white and my husband chose a white tux because we wanted people to know that we saved each other for marriage ( we are married for more then 15 years and counting.)

It does represent purity. The purity part is overlooked these days and the tradition is upheld. The bride traditionally wears white and also it is an easy color to coordinate everything with.

Yes white is a sign of purity (as in a virgin). Wearing white is mostly just a tradition now & people follow it without paying it true regard. White is a beautiful, angelic colour anyway so i think it fits the occasion whether you have had sex or not.

It is for purity and is suppose to represent the fact that they are virgins, but like you stated many live together before marriage. But if you go with tradition, white is for virgins, and they should pick another color..

It started as a sign of purity but u are right, nowadays it doesn't make sense in most parts of the world for brides to wear white it should be more like crimson red!!

tradition dictates that it should be white for purity, since brides are supposed to be virgins till their altar date. non-virgin brides should settle for cream/off-white/beige wedding gowns. more and more brides lately are being adventurous when it comes to colors though. the next time i get married i'll be wearing black and red lol.

I wore it just cause it looked so good on me!
And it wasn't even a wedding dress...I had an elf-like dress and it was tailored especially for me....I loved it!
I also wore white cause my mom wasn't so crazy about me not wearing an actual wedding dress so I figured white would be the closest thing to making her happy:-)
