I like both, but i prefer Opera over Firefox mainly because Opera has an excellent and efficient management of its cache without tweaking any setting. Opera's back and forward browsing is awesome, much better than firefox.
Also Firefox takes up too much memory...not to mention many of the extensions pose a memory leak issue. i'm glad firefox has been fixing its memory leaks in newer builds.
I agree firefox's extensions make it look cool, but Opera has so much stuff intrinsically built in , like fraud protection, for this you need the WOT extension in firefox, then there's block content feature in Opera..for this you need the adblock plus extension in firefox . So all these extensions can bog down firefox...and many of these extensions got memory leak bugs. Also Opera's wand is better than firefox's password manager. To auto fill in the forms in firefox you need yet another extension! Not to mention, Opera's notes feature comes in very handy. can just copy some stuff to note and access the web page later through notes. Also sometimes while writing long answers here on yahoo, i copy the answer to notes so that i know my long answer is protected and 'saved' in case if i lose the answer i'm writing for whatever reason i can retrieve it from the notes panel(Ctrl+shift+6)
Besides, the stuff intrinsically built in, Opera has got widgets and user javascripts to add additional functionality into it. If i liked the xultris/tetris extension in firefox to have some fun while i'm browsing...Opera's circular tetris widget is also good.
I also like the mouse gestures in Opera...and also the speed dial feature...i love speed dial. Of course there are also extensions in firefox for the mouse gesture functionality. As far as speed dial goes, well firefox fans needn't worry because speed dial extension will be released soon...in fact i think its in the review area in mozilla.org right now, but it isn't the same as Opera's speed dial..however you can add a code in userContent.css in firefox to get about 6 thumbnails of speed dial (that is if you want the speed dial in firefox NOW)
Moreover, i love the draggable buttons in Opera...i can drag whatever buttons i need onto my toolbars and status bar from here http://operawiki.info/CustomButtons . It saves me from installing different extensions in firefox that add buttons onto the toolbars to do a specific job.
Firefox and Opera both offer wonderful features...its just a matter of how much you are able to fine tune and tweak it according to your liking. The more you are able to tweak and customize either Firefox or Opera to your liking, the more you'll like the particular browser better.
And we know, both Firefox and Opera offer extensive customizations!!!
Finally, here's something firefox 'fanboys' should check out...i hope it gets their heads straight

I have Opera . Fast . Widgets are new . Speed dial allows you to go to any website by just typing a no (Like in phones). Opera 9.2 is the best . Allows skins !! Tabbed Browsing . Opera Remembers the site which you were browsing last time u used it so automatically goes to those websites
I dont think IE7 , Firefox is good . Firefox is slow .

Firefox is safer, fast, and it doesn't use Active X like Opera.
But Opera opens pics, etc a little faster. Both have add-on and tabbed browsing.

I have no clear favorite. I like Firefox, when it comes to configuration, stability, add ons and support. I prefer Opera for speed, download, interface and Speed Dial. All in all, I will give both 9.5/10.

I certainly have Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, and internet Explorer all put in. My husband is going to varsity for desktops and presented me to Opera. that's lots speedier than any of the others. for college, I would desire to apply internet Explorer to get right of entry to their portal. it is so stressful and it takes lots time to load something.

Opera uses ActiveX controls just like Internet Explorer. Firefox doesn't, so it is more secure.

Firefox because it has support for amazing extensions and themes. I don't like how Opera handles cookies though.

I, personally, love and prefer Firefox. It has great add-ons available and it's much safer than IE or Opera.
