Ninjitsu is jammed with secret techniques passed on from teacher to student.. dating back to the original clan. To find a genuine teacher is difficult enough- let alone a proper, credible website. You would certainly need to work with a teacher to learn them safely (some techniques can be very dangerous, and need to be taught properly and with control from a qualified expert).

Wushu is composed of fast movements and techniques using ideal body forms, which is nigh impossible to learn without the aid of a teacher. You would hardly be able to tell how and what they're doing from video clips and pictures alone.

Karate is your only bet (out of your choices) if you wish to try it online- but with nobody to correct your mistakes you may form many bad habits, etc. Sparring with qualified experts is a regular karate practice too, and is essential in order to improve. You would be far better off seeking a good teacher and classes.

The only martial arts you can really teach yourself are softer ones such as tai chi, where you don't really need to work with others, and you can't easily hurt yourself.

There is very little point trying to learn a martial art from the web. Martial arts require practice, practice and more practice, followed by practice, practice and more practice.
Most of this practice will require you to have a partner/opponent.
Your question is the same as asking: I want to become a baseball pitcher. Is there a Web site where I can learn to pitch a ball (So I never have to step on the mound)?
No - If you never step on the mound and you never throw the ball at a batter, you're not a pitcher. Plain and simple.

learning a martial art isn't like learning Spanish with an on-line course through your local community college or by buying tapes to use at home. you need to go to an actual school/gym/dojo to learn the techniques correctly, use the correct training equipment, and to be able to practice with other people. I'm sure there are websites that claim that they can teach you on line, by showing you photos of technique, but i and promise you that you will never progress as a martial artist in that way. yes, it's going to cost some money, but at least it would be worth it.

You would be better off going to an instructor to learn. You tube and expert village have lots of videos.
There is also a capoiera website that shows alot of techniques but I don't think you'd want that.

ska.org

They teach Shotokan karate, they've been around since the fifties, they have dojos all over the country, and other countries. They have a fantastic mentality, and they have videos and a few essays.
(There's no flashy, movie stuff to show your freinds though :-p)

I agree with opinionatedkitten.

In addition, you need a teacher to analyze and correct your form, not only to tell you what you are doing wrong, but to tell you how to correct it.

I think that websites and dvds are good supplements, but they are not a substitute for a teacher. And if you are just starting, learning proper technique is crucial, otherwise you will continue bad habits and not even know it.

there are too many subtelties in a martial art that cannot be learned froma 3rd person source. It is more effective and fun, even, to go to a dojo and interact with people who are learning like you are.

Well, it is difficult that instructors teach you free online. Maybe if you pay for the sign-up, you will have access to online classes.
I don't know of any sites. But there is a site that sells videos:

If you must learn by website or video pick up a black belt magazine at a store they always have listed in there.
