My hair isn't "damaged", it's just not as soft nor manageable as it used to be. It's now rough and very dry. What should one do? I use Matrix Biolage hydrathérapie (top of the line shampoo and conditioner), should I not use it every day? And when I do shower, should I wet it every day, or not?

You may want to try and not wash it or wet it so much...wash it once or twice a week because you're stripping it of it's natural oils. And try to condition it with a leave in conditioner everyday. Because your hair is so dry now it will cause split ends so you may have to get your ends trimmed at least once every two weeks, to protect it from further damage. And stay away from the chemicals such as perms and colors. And by no means should you be using a blow dryer or styling wands (curling irons) until your hair is better.

How's your shower water? Is it "hard" or "soft"? It is high in minerals? If it's hard water, daily showering, ever without shampoo, can be making your hair more brittle.

If the water's "soft", showering and conditioning as needed shouldn't hurt your hair. You may not need to shampoo every time you shower.

If you have "hard" water, you may be better off getting a "shower cap" and investing in distilled water just for rinsing your hair.

If your hair is dry, it's usually suggest that you don't wash it every day. When you wash it, you're stripping your hair of your natural oils which are good for it. Try brushing your hair with a boar bristle brush. The bristles help distribute your natural oil throughout the entire strands of your hair.
