Any advice on Colostomy reversal would be gratefully received. My operation was two years ago I am concerned with post operative problems if I agree to go ahead with "closure"

It is good that they are offering you a reversal, so I would go for it.

I know many people who have had their colostomy reversed. The most common problems seem to be loose stool (most of the time it thickens up after a while once your body gets used to being reconnected again) and butt burn (cos sometimes the stool can be a bit more acidic).

The vast majority of them have no problems after getting through the initial post op hurdles.

I knew someone who underwent this operation 5 years after having a colostomy. They did not suffer any problems that I know of after the operation.
Your doctor will be able to better advise you on any risks.

You are feeling nervous because you are human. I know rationality doesn't always beat feelings, but you might like to hold on to the thoughts that 1) The operation you originally had was much more complicated, that's why they had to make a stoma in the first place. 2) The operation you are going to have now is a very simple one. 3) The wine you had does not influence the outcome of the operation you are going to have.
