I asked a question yesterday about a missing cat. But I just want to know if you've lost a pet how do you deal with it?. I've lost alot of animals, but honestly it sometimes takes me years to fully get over it. How do you get over there death without it taking over your life. I miss my pets everyday. How can I start to smile again?

It sounds stupid, but it is really the truth, "Time heals all wounds!" And, first off...DONT let anyone make fun of you for loving your pets so much. A dog that i had for 14 years died in my arms and people at work laughed cuz I had to take the day off!!! And another time I took a day off to have a vet come to my house and put my dog to sleep because she was in so much pain. I got teased for that too. When you love your pets like you SHOULD, they are a member of your family. I still cry over those dogs sometimes and it's been years. Just try to realize that, yeah, it hurts, but it does get better in time. Even if you end up getting another pet, you will never forget the one that came before. You don't say your age, but you sound like a young person. You have lots of unbelievable times to come in your life! Grieve, but don't live a life filled with grief. **HUGZ and BEST WISHES**

I know exactly how you feel. Time is the only cure I've come across. In the case of a lost pet it's the uncertainty of not knowing. I prefer to assume in the case of the cats I have lost (3) that they choose to go and live elsewhere and are very happy there. It helps me get by.

Losing a pet can be like losing a family member. There are support groups out there and some people get counseling. Time does heal though.
