I am Agnostic, and I am proud. I respect every religion and the people following what they believe. So why does every time I get on here people are bashing eachothers religion with "science and the bible?" It's really stupid.

Christians, you come on here insulting Aethiests trying to prove them wrong using stupid scientific paradoxes? Trying to use fear to get people to convert is not cool.

Aethiests, you come on here bashing Christians for believing in something that you think is impossible even though people have believed that for thousands of years.

I am sick of it, why can't we accept everyone for who they are? Don't worry about who's right and what science is proving, or what bible quote will best explain current situations. Just live your lives and be happy!

So my question is why? Why are we bickering like children? The dark ages are over, you have a freedom of religion. So why do we abuse that and bash others?

Peggy S, that is the fear im talking about. Why would I care if I'm going to heaven? Honestly, I'm not dead yet. I'll worry about that when I pass...

I don't mean to single out Christians and Aethists, but those are the most common fights. There's also plenty of bickering between Muslims and Christians, etc. etc. ETC!!!!

I am Christian and I must admit I do not bridle my tongue sometimes. I am working hard at saying what is not hurtful to others. thankyou for a reminder.

The Dark Ages are over?

Maybe, and it's a big maybe, we're at a 'cusp' point?

For years religion held sway over men's minds. The we had the Enlightenment and science began to provide better and more believable explanations for the world around us.

And now we are finally at a point where secular and religious thought are of roughly equal influence. But unfortunately each set of adherents wants to 'prove' that they are 'right'. Because for some reason they see the 'other' as diametrically opposed to their 'beliefs'. Hence the arguments.

But what if neither is 'right'? Or both?

Maybe it's time to go 'beyond' all that. Or maybe I've been reading too much Celestine Prophecy! LOL

AMEN!

edit because that just seemed too short.

This is what i've been ranting on for a while now. People just don't seem to be able to actually discuss things intelligently/rationally. Instead, there are attacks and insults which will never convince people of your point. if anything, it turns them farther from your view.

comments like
A) I hope be breaks the glass when she sings in the church.
B)no the bible isn't gods word. Don't believe this crap
are just insults. And these are not NEAR the worst I've seen.

then there is stuff like
That is not being relegious, Jesus Christ is not relegion, He is the truth!
where it doesn't discuss views - just says I'm right - so there. I'm a Christian, but I'm not telling you my views are FACTS. They aren't. They are FAITH. I believe because of faith. I can't PROVE it. I can show some evidence, but it isn't the sort of mathematical proof that we usually expect.

I wish everyone would stop the insults, the questions that are insults in disguise, the stupidity and ACTUALLY discuss things. It is possible.

kudos for the reminder!

...it's done most often when people are bored.
Someone asks a pointed/ac using question. trying to tease or offend.
someone gets offend writes back and then posts another pointed question.
it entertains them, I've never seen so much bickering in my life, and in front of me sits the Israel Jewish girl and the Palestinian and Afghan Muslim boys. Beside me are the atheist/agnostic Swedish girl and Shintoist Japanese girl and behind me are the Hindu Indian girl the Japanese catholic priest (I didn't stutter!) and an agnostic Chinese girl and me, I'm the happy pagan American in the middle.
(I go to a language school in Italy)
So it is my sincere opinion since in real life I can literally be surrounded by some one from a religion and or country from every corner of the world and talk openly freely about our religions and cultures without offending any one and learning a lot about each other, I think here, on answers it's a lot of bored people looking for some passive aggression.

Hi System

People that believe in something with passion most often try and prove their faith to others. Even aethiests have a faith, they have one in "no God" and "Science"

Your question is a good one. I have had a few people vrebal bash some of my questions.

If Christians are happy with their faith, by all means they can share it but they don't have to fight and insult.

The same goes for everybody.

I will be starring your question buddy.

It will ALWAYS be that way. There will never be an agreement when it comes to the "True Church" or "True Religion." We can agree to disagree, but the belief will never change, unless one is in a Religious or Spiritual conversion.

If we are the Children of God, no matter what God we praise or worship, then, like all Children, we will always fight, argue and have our little spats of disagreements. After all, isn't that what siblings do?

Unfortunately, because people will be people. If there is a supreme being, that being must be very loving & mercifull to put up with people's antics, because otherwise that being would have to nip mankind in the bud!
I agree with you 100%.
My take on religions is that each & every one of them has their own fairy tale on which they're based. (With all our technology we can't be certain what happened a couple of weeks ago, let alone a couple of thousand years ago.) And, whatever fairytales they're all based on, most religions are all about the same things (ie. don't kill, don't steal, don't mess with another's mate, etc...).

im not athiest nor am i christian as a matter of fact i am wiccan, i enjoy learning about other religions. im curiou how other religions work.. plus ive been literally chased by a christian through walmart for 1/2 hour telling me about how id go to hell because of my wiccan tattoo..... so yes that made me a little skeptical of christians way of doing things.. but theres so little who can actually show me that that is not how they really are.. to many people act that way towards others im unsure of how the christian religion works with this type of behaivor... religion is an interesting study and im always wanting more information!

Amen!!!

One of the few people on this site that actually use logic. It is a very good question. People put others down because they are not so sure of themselves and sometimes question themselves.

I wish everyone had your attitude, the world would be a better place.

I'm on the same boat with you (although I lean more towards there is a God more than I disbelieve)... people should just chill and let others decide what they want to be as long as they're not out of control and hurting others!
