Why can't people just believe in what they believe in, and let other people believe the way they need to? Why is it such a big deal if two men want to get married, or if somebody wants to smoke some marijuana, or have six husbands or wives or any combination there-of, or believe in evolution or not, or that the Earth is flat and the moon is made of cheese? I know that the Bible and Science are, for the most part very clear on these issues, I'm not asking if they are right or wrong, True or False...that's all up for debate, and debate is, I think, a good thing; it makes you think. I just want to know why people can't just believe in what they believe, accept the fact that others believe differently, and act like civilized human beings about it.

For our part, there is a deep seeded fear among us Christians that we aren't living up to what the Bible teaches about spreading the word. If we were to sit idly by watching someone sin, we would be guilty of sinning ourselves. So in order not to sin, we try to spread the word, try to correct faulty teachings, and so on. It is precisely the attempt to avoid sin, that we do this. If in the end we are unconvincing, but we've made an honest attempt, we are absolved of any sin.
You brought up evolution. I have found many of those who oppose evolution to be ignorant and totally unconvincing. They are well-intentioned, but they don't realize that God may have created things using the very science they seem to oppose. Don't ask me why some are so opposed to evolution. I will tell you this: Catholics believe in science, so if you were thinking of converting, I'd look into them.

Because someday we will all die and stand before a perfect God who made every effort to get those that don't believe Him to understand grace and forgiveness of sins in hopes that they would turn and be saved so He could bless them for an eternity. I can't ignore the fact that hell was not created for people but most people choose to go there anyway. Would it be right for me to just stand by and let that happen? I don't think so. I can't force anyone to see God, you have to want that for yourself, but, I can, at minimum, put in my two cents worth when questions are asked or comments are made and pray for that person to see reality.

Fear, jealousy. We want everyone to be like us so we we don't have to think when people are different than us. It takes work to understand differences. And accepting someone with different attitudes, lifestyles, values, etc. is harder when you've been taught that this lifestyle is "bad" and that value system is "wrong". Ususally these things are taught by people we trust not to lie to us. so we accept these morals and values and believe them whithout considering that what we were taught WAS "wrong". But, again, it's easier to go with the status quo than to change and think for ourselves. that and mommy would be mad at me if I did this and daddy would kick the snot out of me if I thought like that and my family would disown me if I was ..... the church would condemn me if I believed the other.
People choose to remain ignorant, they choose not to be accepting or tolerant, they choose to be lazy and uneducated, especially those that are over 18 and truly have a choice.

Sounds like a definition of anarchy to me. Most people have a legitimate concern for themselves, their children, friends, colleagues and people in general. Laws on seat belts, drugs, guns etc reflect this. Society, to be civilised, needs guidance and control. Freedom is not doing recklessly whatever you choose. Within these constraints we become free and safe.
Cheers :-)

Ok. Yours is yours and mine is mine. That is very good idea but many of us here even go to the extent of hating others, by asking insulting questions so that many would also answer insulting answers. vice verse . To avoid these things we should be refrained from asking insulting question with insulting comments against or God as Christians.

That's whatJohn Lennon suggested in his "Imagine" song, and that's prpbably why he had to die. Can't have radicals like him running around, now can we?
Anyway, it's SO much fun teasing the Christians and religious minded.
