Check your other scores you may have a 35 total but may have scored higher in certain areas that could help you get what you are looking for. 35 will get you in but It just depends on what they need and how badly they need it. Also don't limit your self to one recruiter, one recruiting station, one branch, or one test retake it if your not happy with your score. as for those guys that say they scored in the 90s I call bullshit. Hooah!

OK, Just like I told the last person I answered. I just got done being a Navy recruiter for 3 years. Your ASVAB score is what get's you in. Your scores in each section decides what jobs you are eligible for. A 35 is the minimum to get in, But depending on your separate scores, You may qualify for more than you think you might. Look on military.com or NAVY.com to see if you can get an idea. What area do you live in? If you have a questions please feel free to contact me.I have been in the Navy for 10yrs now and I am living in Spain for the next 3 years. I love it

I do not believe you desire to become a member of the Navy with a ranking of 38. Try retaking the examination or watching into anything else like remedial categories at your regional neighborhood university then take the scan. When you become a member of the army you may have your fundamental coaching first then you definitely coach in an MOS task area of expertise and they've time to instruct you the best way to depend, learn or understand. It's very speedy paced. So should you wouldn't have the noodle to be in a position to preserve up you'll be discharged, despatched dwelling and you'll have a nasty mark in opposition to you for loosing a federal task.

I doubt any job in the navy because that will barely get you in the army and they have low requirements. I dont know what the navys scores are but you probably need a higher one. I got a 93 and pretty much qualified for all army jobs. Why would you want want to be known as seamen anyway?

Don't let it get you down. Retake that test. Yeah, a 35 is pretty low and one you choose your rating you could be stuck in it. Not saying that you will, but it's a possibility. Retake that test and now that you know what's on it study a bit. Brush up on that math and vocab. You'll do just fine!!! Your jobs will be limited to cook, Boatswains' Mate, or just a regular seaman, fireman, or constructionman. You could be a Seabee....but, I wouldn't go that route...
And for that person who said that there are no 90's.....your ful of BS yourself....I know what my husband got and I know what I go as well. Both our scores were in the 90's!! Nice to have your choice in jobs....

35 is the absolute minimum you can get to join the Navy.
You have the choice of being a cook or swabbing decks.
Go join the Army. At least you can do something cool like Infantry or Artillery.

your line scores determine exactly which jobs you are eligible for. other factors include ability to get a Clearance and normal color vision.
sit down with your recruiter and they will go over exactly what is open to you.

Lucky you...maybe the Military will go away and leave you alone now. I scored a 94 on mine in 1979 and they didn't stop bugging me until 1984 when I finally told them to go F themselves I wasn't signing up.
