Of course! And it is still idolatry if you worship Jesus not in front of any statue because only God the father should be worshipped, Just like Jesus worshiped him.

Having been created by God, Jesus is in a secondary position in time, power, and knowledge. The Bible is clear and consistent about the relationship of God to Jesus. Jehovah God alone is Almighty. He created the prehuman Jesus directly. Thus, Jesus had a beginning and could never be coequal with God in power or eternity.

"About the mid-3rd century an incipient pictorial art began to be used and accepted in the Christian Church but not without fervent opposition in some congregations. Only when the Christian Church became the Roman imperial church under Emperor Constantine in the early 4th century were pictures used in the churches, and they then began to strike roots in Christian popular religiosity.” - The Britannica

Not at all; I suppose if you were literally worshiping the statue it could be strange, but people don't do that. One would 'worship in front of a statue of Jesus" because they were worshiping Jesus.

You would think so but the Christians say no. Catholics also pray in front of Mary statues. They don't say that is Idolatry but if my religion is idolatry because I pray in front of statues then so is theirs.

As long as they are not worshipping the statue. If it is used as a reminder of Christ it is not idolatry.

If a Christian worships the statue itself, like putting offerings and touching the statue as if it has magical properties, then it's wrong.

If you are praying to Jesus and you are in front of a statue of Him, you are still praying to Jesus. Just because there is a statue there doesn't mean that you are worshipping it. People who pray before a statue are using the statue to help them to remain mindful of who they are praying to. We use statues to remind us of the Holy Ones that we want to remember, just as I have pictures in my house of people that I want to remember.

I could think of no better description of it. I saw that happen at a Lutheran church in Orange, California. And I thought that Lutherans were supposed to be against such things. Well, I guess I was wrong!
