Which is better? Ruger Model 77 CR MK II Compact, or Ruger KM77 Ultra Light, or Tikka T3 Lite, or Remington Model Seven? I am 5'2" tall and 130 Lbs. so I want to stay with a light caliber like the .243 Any suggestions which is the best gun?

I've bought Ruger, Remington, and Sako for myself and my kids, and for years my only deer rifle was a 6mm, and from that experience, I'd say the model 7 is the best choice, but I'm not sure the 243 is really what you want. Though I've killed probably a hundred deer with my 6mm, I consider it a bit too light for general use, and you'll have to be a bit too selective with your shots, turning down some that you'd take with a more appropriate caliber. Look hard at 7mm08 before you buy. It's still a pleasant cartridge (both are based on the 308 case, necked down) but the 7mm is a much better caliber for deer, and if you're recoil-sensitive, the 139 and 140 grain bullets won't kick much more than the 100 grain 243 bullet, even in the lightweight rifles.

I own a Tikka T3 and have been very, very happy with it. It has a composite stock and chambered in .30-06. I have never had a rifle with a smoother action and it fits me like a glove. The problem is I'm 6' tall and in the neighborhood of 200 lbs. so I can't say what's going to fit you at.

The best thing to do is to handle and fire each gun you have on your list. You want to go with the rifle that feels most comfortable to you. All of the weapons on your list are quality firearms so that isn't a concern. Most good gun shops have ranges that they'll allow you to try different rifles on for a minimal fee (some will let you practice for free if you're seriously interested in buying from them).

Remington model 7 is a great gun, dad had one in a 22-250 and a .243 and it is a fine gun. And by the way, ive never EVER seena .270 shoto flater than a .243. I load my own .243 bullets and i can shoot as fast as a factory 22-250.

I would go with the Tikka T3 model but go with the caliber 270 Win it shoots flat-er and is still light enough for you plus it has a little more knock down power

Alll the ones you mentioned are fine guns. You might go to a large gunshop that has them all in stock and see which one fits you best. Work the action and the safety and see if one suits you better than the others. I am a Remington guy but there is nothing wrong with other brands; I just find that the layout of Remingtons are comfortable to me.

I was a competition shooter for yrs and I can tell you that light isnt always best. Our single shot Anshutz .22 cal weighed in at 14lbs. Secondly I can tell you that lb for lb and practice for practice a female will outshoot a man. Now for the question at hand. The best weapon for you is the one that feels best to you. Thats right which one give you the feel of more control? Most places have a test fire place to fire a new weapon ask to use it and then you decide. If you go light you may not like the recoil, if you go heavy you may not enjoy the hunt for having to carry it... In the end it boils down to this, WHat do you like...

I hope this helps and happy hunting

remington has a good action on it. i think it is better than the ruger. but to give you some advice i would go with a 6mm instead of a 243. a 6mm is a flatter shoot and is a little more accurate round.

Provided that you can lift the weapon, it feels comfortable in your arms, and you can accurately shoot it, the choice is yours.

Personally, I prefer Ruger, so either of those would be my choice.

Personally, I don't like the .243 for deer. I prefer a bigger bullet (30-06 or 7mm); but again, that's up to you.

Good shooting.

Any of them will work fine. Find the one that fits you best. Another option is the Savage line, which includes the stevens. Along with a good rifle, get a good scope. Don't skimp on the optics, they are every bit as important as the gun. Good luck and Good hunting!
