I've always wondered about that. I guess when people go to jail they get screwed twice. I feel bad for those that are falsely convicted of stuff.

Friends and family step in or.....I don't know.

Ive seen alot of sentences that don't begin jail time until a few weeks after sentencing. It gives the convicted time to get personal affairs in order, then they check themselves in. Of course this isn't done with convicts that are violent or flight risks.

The arresting officer gets to sell it at his next garage sale. And before anybody snivels here, I'm just joking.

Unless they have some way to pay the rent on their apartment then yes they will lose the apartment. Best bet is to find someone to store their items for them.

If they don't have anyone like family, friends etc they lose all their stuff and the law don't care.
