So my firewall detected a port scan attempt on my computer.
I understand what it does, but is what triggered it something on my computer or just someone randomly picking my computer to port scan?

most likely a script kiddy because a real cracker would not be so obvious. Keep you OS patch and what ever you use for a firewall turned on and updated.

I was port scanned over 120 times today... I not worried. I have the kids IP and his OS fingerprint. hacking from a windows box. hahaha

it can not be unlawful, in case you do no longer attempt and hack a gadget with open ports, yet it relatively is beside the point. no be counted if it relatively is against the TOS of a service service than they might droop the account. you settle to maintain on with their rules once you employ their service. added: Mark i admire your answer. every time i'm getting hit with pings and comprehend i'm being scanned i've got faith merely like what you defined. LOL :-)
