It would seem logical and respectful to learn the language of the county you live in...and speak it whenever possible in public so that there is a social connection between all citizens.
Hence, all immigrants to the U.S. should learn English and all U.S. citizens who immigrate elsewhere should learn the language of the county they move to.

Both. Immigrants of all orgins SHOULD know English. I'm not trying to be racist. I just believe if you're going to a country you should at least TRY to learn the language. If I moved to Japan or China I would either study the language there or have studied or something along those lines.
Though I also believe that Americans should be more into other languages than we are. It's been shown that learning additional languages is very good for the mind.

In Canada we were forced, I repeat forced, to learn French in school but the French didn't have to learn English in Quebec.
In Quebec a business could be fined or closed down for having English on it's signs.
When Hong Kong was given back to communist China, floods of Chinese moved into Vancouver. Now there are areas of Vancouver where there is no English on any of the signs. And this isn't just in China Town, it's in previously English speaking neighborhoods.
Multiculturalism is a crock. It's all about the Borg. Force assimilation, or be assimilated.

Spanish from SPAIN ? you mean the real Spanish or the so called Spanish the Mexican people speak.
That is a language of conquest. A language that was forced on them by the Spanards many years ago. So it is not really Spanish - Castilian Spanish it's just a made up mix of different dielects that is spoken in Mexico. Remember it is a language of CONQUEST ! - And is not a language to be proud of. Because it was FORCED on people.

If you live in this country you need to learn the language, meaning english. By illegal immigrants coming over here and not learning our language they make it harfer for people to help them in the world. If someone comes up to me in my place of work in america and can't speak the language, i can't help them. this then increases the demand for people who are bilingual which makes it harder for me to get a job because i only speak english. If i moved to France or China, i would learn the language because i don't expect an entire country to cater to my laziness. The same should go for America.

If nothing is done, the illegal aliens will outnumber those that are in this country legally, so probably we will have to learn Spanish. Especially since they are not willing to learn English.

I teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to non-native English speakers. The non-native English speakers who attend my classes came here because they wanted a better life. They learn English because like it or not English is the primary language spoken in the US and learning English makes their life better.

In my job I have to speak some Mexican in order to communicate or nothing gets done right. They should learn English because they want to become Americans (yeah right) they just want our freebies and our jobs and keep their loyalty to Mexico. Most don't think very highly of Americans except for our stuff. Not like it was 20 years ago.
