If you sit with your legs crossed or on hard chairs too much, it will cause your tail bone to become sore. I had the same problem and it nearly killed me to get out of my seat. Try sitting up straight without your legs crossed, and sit on cushioned chairs. If you don't have a cushioned chair at work, bring a pillow to sit on. You should start noticing a difference in a few days.

Could be inflammation and that can take a long time to heal. Sometimes over a year. I know someone that had this problem. They recommended surgery which he refused. It finally healed on its on. All you can do is keep pressure off it as much as possible.
