My daughter wants to have a summer job of walking dogs. I think it's a very good idea to teach her the value of a dollar. She is 12 years old turning 13. How much do you think we should have people pay her?

as always, not too much, not too little...and also watch how she is spending her earned money. financial support is valuable to a child. later in life, they won't need to learn difficult things the hard way...lawl (lol)

Yes I think its a good idea. the earlier you start learning about money the better of you will be when your older. I would say For every 20 minutes she walks a dog she can be paid $10 for smaller dogs and $15 for the larger dogs. You can also ask people around town what they would expect to be charged for having their dog walked and you can get the average from that and use it as the amount to charge.
It's good to have money and the things that
money can buy, but it's good, too, to check up
once in a while and make sure that you haven't
lost the things that money can't buy.

She could approach a few potential customers and ask what they would be willing to pay. She could charge different prices for short or long walks. I've never hired a dog walker, and don't think I would pay much, but I have hired people to come feed and care for my dogs when we're out of town, and this is much more lucrative. With summer vacation season she might consider this.

Call around to local dog walkers to see how much they get paid -- and charge maybe half to 2/3 of their pay

ANYTHING FROM 5 TO 10 DOLLARS PER DOG , DEPENDING ON THE SIZE. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHO'S DOGS SHE WALKS, WHERE SHE GOES , THE ROUTE SHE TAKES, HOW MUCH SHE MAKES , HOW MANY DOGS ,THE TIME SHE HAS TO SPEND AND IF A DOG DROPS OUT OR IS ADDED.

this depends on what the dog owners are willing to pay -it needs to be their decision, too. let your daughter in on the decision making before you consult strangers online.
