It is said that anthracite produces the least sulfur that the 4 other types, making it the most environment-friendly. Thus, why isn't it a popular choice for power plants? Is it because of the price or for another reason?

Because it is 2x to 3x more expensive than Lignite or Bituminous coals

It is of course important that the earth survives that the human race continues, as a species we have achieved more than all the other life forms that have inhabited the earth and are just now entering the phase where we begin to direct our own evolution not with the blundering stupidity of the bush types but with intelligence, this is purpose enough for most people, Humans need the earth as a base to alow us to inhabit first the galaxy and no doubt one day the universe we are all part of that adventure
