Have you checked to make sure dust etc has not collected on the vents? Check them and see as this can happen. It might be as simple as a little vacuuming or cleaning off of the vents. And I presume you have the correct bulb in it, the one recommended for your projector, not one that is too high of wattage? You also don't mention how long you run it at at time?

Check THE FILTER on the intake and make sure that it hasn't accumulated an excessive amount of debris blocking adequate airflow. If your filter is missing you have another can f worms to worry about. Next make sure that the fan is operating. Next as the good Dr. said, sort of, make sure that the air intake (location varies from projector to projector, but is usually on on of the sides) is unobstructed. If it's on the ceiling, make sure that it's not pushed against a back wall. If it's on the floor, in a cabinet for instance, make sure that the enclosure allows for proper exchange of cool air for hot air. If all of these measures have been taken, take it in and have it looked at by a pro. Sometimes the thermostat doesn't read the temp correctly and will shut the projector down because it thinks it's too hot. If it's an older projector it may be time for a good cleaning by the service department. This should be looked at as preventative maintenance and done periodically before it becomes a necessity.

Hi.Have you checked the vents for dust buildup. Is the projector located where air can circulate around the vents .I would vacuum the vents with a small attachment and underneath where dust can accumulate .Make sure it not near a window that gets sun on it and well away from any heaters in the room including air conditioners with heat settings.Hope this helps.
Cheers.

More than likely you don't have proper ventilation. Remember, heat rises, and that means it hangs out up at the cieling near the projector. If possible, if you don't hav ventilation above the projector, you should maybe lower it a bit so it has some room above it. I know a lot of people who stick em on the cieling wth no ventilation above it, and they have this issue.

How old is the unit? Sometimes components in the units can go bad and the unit will shut itself down to keep from doing damage to itself.
