if you have their permission just move if you feel it is the best thing.... at 17 you are considered an adult in most states, just check to see what your state says about it.... do a google, that should tell ya...... there are no legal steps to take if you are an adult and move out on your own.... just make sure it is what ya want to do...... God bless

First you have to find a place that will rent to somebody under 18 (some places it's 21) and pass a credit check. You will need to be able to provide a deposit of 1-2 months rent plus first month's rent when signing the lease. You will probably have to put a deposit down on utilities and phone. You will need furniture, bedding, cleaning supplies, toletries, etc. All this just to move in to a place. Then you will need to figure your monthly expenses including food and make sure you can afford it.
Also you have to decide if you can handle the responsibilities of maintaining a household. It's not easy. If you live in an apartment you have to be mindful of your neighbors.
When I moved into my current place my first check was written to cover my deposit and first month's rent. It was $2100. Then I put another $4000 out for furniture and probably another $1500 for other household needs. My rent and bills per month come to $1600. I still have to figure in food and unexpected expenses.
Now I live in a ridiculously expensive state and make $25.50 an hour plus bonuses. Oregon probably is not as expensive as NJ wages many times are determined by the cost of living so you'll have to base your budget on your would be expenses and your earnings.
Good luck but I tell people that it's not easy so unless you are totally prepared you should not be in a rush to move out on your own.

Trust me, you don't want to move out. Life on your own without a solid education and well-paying job will be damn near impossible. With no credit, you won't be able to rent an apartment, many landlords renting rooms won't take you seriously enough to rent to you, and costs of living are quite high these days.
You may think you can because you believe you're all grown up and strong, but let me tell you, the world bites hard with no mercy. Spend a few more years at home. Go to college. Get a good job. Save every dollar you can. You'll be thankful you did.
EDIT:
At 17, how GOOD of a job can it be, honestly? With only a high school education it's highly unlikely you earn more than $10-12 an hour. That kind of will not pay rent, gas, (hello! rapidly rising prices!), food, insurance, and an assortment of other costs. It costs a lot more to be on your own than your naive mind would think.

There aren't any details given here to know what you are talking about. Things don't sound right.
If your parents said it's ok, aren't they discussing how to do it with you? If not and you all aren't close, maybe you could go to another adult you trust. This is a BIG step.
Remember, big moves may turn out great, but they usually take longer than you thought, cost a lot more than you planned on, are more difficult, and just much more than you bargained for.
It's good you are asking questions, because you have to learn somewhere, right? But it sounds like you have a lot of growing up to do, to learn how to communicate and express yourself.
It's great that you aren't afraid of the unknown, you sound independent and strong. Take it one step at a time.
Good luck, God bless, and no matter what stay in school. And go talk to your nearest college financial aid office. You could probably get grants and go for free. Lots of kids do. They'll tell you what to do.

You can move out if they agree just make sure you have a good job so you can support your self. Just dont move out if you are going to be depending on a man or friend make sure you can support your self. Remember you will have to pay rent buy your own food and clothes. You can also go to court and have your self emancipation from your parents. Which means they are no longer responsible for you or your actions.

I would suggest you at least finish high school. Stash your funds from that good job. Then pack your bags and move out on your 18th Birthday. You'll then be considered an adult and no legal actions need to be taken.

Do you have a job and a car? Can you pay your own rent and insurance? If so, just do it; no special actions need to be taken. If you can't pay your own way, then stay with your parents.

Get a job.
Figure out your monthly budget.
Search for rentals.
Thats about all you can really do. Make sure you go over your budget over and over. Otherwise you'll just screw yourself over.
Some others here are right though. If you don't have to move out, I wouldn't. Enjoy a stress-free life as long as possible! Belive me, you'll long for the days once they're gone!

Why do you want to move out? If it's family issues I understand but if it's because you feel that you are mature and want to live on your own, I wouldn't do it. I think it's the dumbest thing, you could be living at home FOR FREE, saving your money.

If they said you can, then there wouldn't be anything else to do. I wouldn't think anyway. I moved out the day I turned 18 my mom cried for days. Grats on the good job and good luck :)
