Did you and a special loved one who passed on share certain secrets or have certain items that meant something to you two alone that pretty much no one knew about? A certain bird? Flower? A song? Anything? Do sometimes you swear that your loved one has left you sign that makes no sense to anyone but you? Is it too much of a coincidence when these "signs" pop up? What do you say?

In my experience, I find these things to be a comfort of a kind nothing else can be. They are intimate, maybe coincidental, maybe a sign, but comforting to be sure.

After the love of my life passed away many years ago, a white cat showed up at my house for several days. It wouldn't come inside or let me pet it, but it stayed under my bushes and seemed to know it was supposed to be there. There are many legends about white animals appearing after the death of a loved one. We both loved animals and always had dogs, cats. When I saw this one, I knew it was there because of her.

I sensed her presence a few times after her death, and on the year anniversary of her death my roses did this: one bush bloomed a perfect white rose, and another bush bloomed a perfect red rose. No other roses to be found. Usually there are lots of roses around the same time but that is the only time that happend. That was definitely a comforting sign from her.

There were strange electrical things happening around the house, like her old tv sparking and the microwave sparking, and then two tires on my car went flat. All that happened within a few days of her passing and I knew it had to be somehow connected to her, so although there was the practical side of having to get things fixed or replaced, it was strangely comforting to know her energy was still present, I guessed that must have been what was going on. I sort of thought she was really making a fight to stay close by.

Oldies on the radio kept me going for years, too. They always seemed to be playing a favorite, meaningful song, and this seemed like she was close by.

I shared these things a long time ago and with very few people, and it's nice to remember, so I'm glad you asked the question!

Our Lord certainly gave no indication of any contact whatever by the dead with the living. The eternal spirit goes after death to either Hell (Separation from God forever), where they certainly will not have any inclination or opportunity to interact with the living, or to Heaven, where they are in the presence of Christ. If you were in Heaven, in the presence of Christ, you would have no desire to return to the depravity and fallenness of this world, or anyone in it. You see, in Heaven we'll see those we loved on earth who are still living, as they truly are: helpless and dying, and we will also know that the only way out is through Jesus, and He's the only help they will receive, and only IF they find Him in time.
On the other hand if you watch TV or see movies, Hollywood wants you to think your dead grandpa can do your homework for you. The Deceiver is at work everywhere these days, and most noticeably in Hollywood and the media.

I think that may be a comforting thought to the living, but on the off chance there is an "afterlife" of some sort, I think the dead would have better things to do than hang about watching the living and leaving 'signs'...

When we lose someone loved in death, it's only natural to want to hold on to them somehow.
To have to say goodbye is very hard.
As we go along, we may see things that reminds us of them and so we find a connection with them.

Our Creator helps us to see that when a person dies, they no longer can do anything. (Ecc 9:5)

And as sad and final that this may sound, that is how it is.

However, it does not have to be a final thing, because our Creator also shows us that there is a hope for dead. (Acts 24:15;Ps 37:11,29)

Yes, I believe that especially in cases of very strong unresolved issues before they die. Depending on the degree of their attachment to this material world, they can just give you a passing sign or meet you in your dreams. If the unresolved issues are too urgent they may even be able to talk to you face to face instead of waiting for the next incarnation.

I definitely believe this is possible for an undefined amount of time. My dear grandmother passed away in 1999. She has spoken to me many times. I had a brain hemorrage in 2000 and was in the ER having an angiogram. She appeared and asked me if I wanted to come with her. I never answered her but she left and when I came to I had suffered a stroke. Also, after her death, no one was living in her house. It was robbed many times, of its air conditioner, big screen tv and other furnishings. She came in a dream and told me who was stealing. He was arrested and some of her items were found in a pawn shop. I know it sounds surreal, but I know it has happened to me. I had a son in 2005 and my grandmother came to me in a dream and told me I was having a boy. He has much of her personality and even has the shape of her lips. My piece of advice if you thinking you're having signs, LISTEN TO THEM and try to understand the deeper meaning it may have.

I think it's sychronicity and sometimes it is very peaceful. I got a phone call on the one day a year the robins are in my yard on their migration. I get thousands of birds on that one day a year, so to get that phone call (from a living person) was a coincidence. There are things that remind you of people or things you shared, it's okay to see it that way and remember them when it happens.

Jesus said a wicked generation will get no sign.
That's not because He didn't do any signs. It's because wicked people wouldn't believe one if it fell on them.
We gets signs every day. I was writing a letter to my mother once about my grandmother, her mom who had passed on. And I said something nice, and felt a hand touch mine.
HI GRANDMA!

A pleasant and harmless superstition; I would not deride since it is often a comfort to the bereaved but there is no real scriptural basis for it and it is more poetic than intrinsically religious.
