You have to specifically ask army, and not marines or navy?

1. Why did you go to war? Because the army told me to. It's my job.

2. What is your name/age/ the war you were in? SGT Wood/26/OIF

3. Would you ever go again? Why? Absolutely. It's what I volunteered to do.

4. What war were you in? You already asled that. OIF (Whichever number we're in right now)

5. Do you think war changed you in any way? Yes. I no longer view a 55 hour work week as excessive.

6. What were your benefits of war? benefits specific to me: I have a better view of the world. For humanity: without war, there is no peace.

7. What position did you have in war? I find bad people.

8. Were you ever injured? no

9. How did you feel going into war? Did you feel the same coming back? nervous/haven't returned yet

10. What was it like to be in war? stressful
11. Did your family support you? How? yes. by mailing me stuff

12. What are the causes of war? Usually money.

13. What were the causes of the war you served in?Saddam Hussein failing to honor his ceasefire agreement and let UN weapons inspectors search for weapons of mass destruction, which he had used on at least three occasions.

15. How do you think the war affected the country? It turned a lot of Americans against the military.

16. Would the world be better without war? If there was truly no war, yes.

17. What were some of the differences you noticed after going to war? An insider's view is far removed from an outsider's view. An insider can make his own decisions about the war. An outside has to rely on the media.

10. What was it like to be in war? Tense. Nervous. Scared.

11. Did your family support you? How? Yes.

12. What are the causes of war? It's a last choice. But sometimes it is necessary to rid the planet of an evil regime.

13. What were the causes of the war you served in? Hussein and his many violations of Un Sanctions, firing on Coalition Aircraft, developing and using WMD.

14. How did this war affect you? I don't think it did.

15. How do you think the war affected the country? Ours or theirs?

16. Would the world be better without war? Nobody wants war. Especially those who have to fight it. But no I don't think the world would be better. It lets bad guys know that they cannot do what they want. It's a check and balances.

17. What were some of the differences you noticed after going to war? Other than not having the creature comforts of home and being in a strage place, nothing really.

18. What were some of the things you saw in the war? Lots of sand. The occasional dead body.

19. What was your reaction when you heard the war had broken out? Scared. Nervous. Excited.

20. What were the benefits of war? Checks and balances like I mentioned. Bad guys need to be removed. War also helps the economy. Other than those items I cannot think of a positive of war.

Hope that helps!

1. Grenada - because I was sent. It was a contingency operation so we were to busy deploying to have time to find out why.

Iraq - because I felt that it was something I should do.

2. I am 46 and I fought in Grenada and Iraq. (I do not want to post my real name)

3. No. Because I feel that the American people have let the troops down by failing to back us in Iraq.

4. Grenada and Iraq

5. Yes - I was changed by my experiences in combat. What I saw in Grenada caused me to give up my plans to leave the Army after one tour and go to college. I had seen evil - and knew that it had to be stopped. As a result, I spent 26 years in service.

My experiences in Iraq caused me to question whether the American people are worth defending. I saw everything we had achieved being destroyed by partisan politics back home.

6. There are no benefits to being in war - other than the ability to look at anybody and say: "I did my part - what about you?"

7. In Grenada I was a machine-gunner. In Iraq I served on the staff of a Brigade headquarters. One of my major jobs was to analyze our plans with a view to reducing the risk of killing innocent civilians.

8. I was injured in Grenada but never knew it. I carried a mild case of PTSD. My tour of duty in Iraq worsened the PTSD to the point where I am now retired and waiting for the VA to tell me ho badly disabled I am.

9. It was easier to go the first time than the second. The second time I knew that I would be making decisions that other people's lives depended on - if I screwed up, somebody else would pay the price. (To me this was extremely stressful.)

10. It was a constant low-level fear. In many ways a surreal experience. I watched a senior Al Qaeda leader die on a live video feed. I surfed the internet during a mortar attack. I came through a car-bomb attack without a scratch - only to get bruises, a bloody nose and a black eye when another soldier fell on me seconds later. I watched the news on CNN and compared it to the actual reports from the scene and wondered what they were talking about. I spent an entire day driving around an active battlefield looking for "200+" dead civilians that CNN reported (that didn't exist) then when we challenged CNN on the story - had them refuse to correct it.

11. I come from a military family. Going to war is something we have done since the civil war (where my ancestors fought on both sides).

12. Wars are caused by people. As long as you have people, you will have war.

13. In Grenada - the official reasons were geopolitics, but we went to stop the massacres.

In Iraq - we are trying to change the world for the better. And because we were betrayed by our own countrymen - you are going to face a much darker war.

14. See above answers.

15. It has not affected the country. The biggest effect it has had has been the result of partisan politics.

16. Maybe - Maybe not.

17. I got a much greater appreciation for how lucky we are to live in this country.

18. A lot of things that I hoped to make sure stayed over there.

19. Both times I was too busy doing my job to have time to worry about it.

20. The benefits are every freedom you have.
20. The benefits are every freedom you have.

Go down to the Local VFW (Veterans of Foreign War) and ask if they can help you out. I am sure if done in a respectful way they would be glad to.
