Because Coca-Cola is phenomal at advertising! They spend millions a year on advertising alone!

Coca-Cola has had a very long history and is a pioneer, innovator and master at marketing the beverage for over 100 years.
Coca-Cola is not quite the number 1 drink in every country yet: Cuba, North Korea, Libya, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, Sudan and Peru.
Also according to the latest numbers (2005), Coca-Cola and Diet Coke have outsold Irn Bru in Scotland. Sorry.

Because we are trend setters not followers. With regard to those that said advertising, some Bru adverts have been banned due to namby - pamby wimps saying they are cruel.(The cow that wants to be a hamburger when they grew up).

allegedly Iron Bru open up the factory chimney at night and let the fumes waft over the lochs and glens while the locals are sleeping so that when they wake in the morning they want Iron Bru for breakfast along with their porridge oats of course

Dollar power, merchandising and peer group pressure. Personally, I'd never touch the stuff.
