hi, I used to pull out huge chunks of hair from my scalp and eyebrows so that my eyebrows were half-gone to fully gone. It was embarrassing when my parents noticed and I resorted to covering my eyebrows with eyebrow pencil, and as for my hair it wasn't really noticeable unless you lifted my hair to check underneath because I have thick long hair. So I guess I got lucky. I have stopped pulling eyebrows but still find myself plucking at hair growths from my chin and my hair once in awhile. Many people think its a psychological disorder (which it may very well be), due to stress or other issues, but for me I guess I just like the feeling of my skin breathing more than anything. Check out the link below, it may help. And don't worry you are not alone. Maybe try squeezing a stress ball or something to keep your hands and fingers occupied, or play an instrument or do some writing or have some other distraction when you feel the urge.

try the link below sounds quite good or try searching google for trichotillomania support groups. I have this disorder among others and it has finally been controlled in the last few months. I had tried luvox prozac zoloft etc. Went on for ages trying to find a medication that would work. Finally we tried Anafranil (clomipramine). It has been the best one I have ever been on by far for ocd and even mood. All the desire to pull has been taken away and by stress has been reduced resulting in less pulling. I regularly see a psychologist and we talk about triggers and reducing stress etc.
Good luck to you and if u want to know any more about how i managed to stop u can email me at limousineorama@yahoo.com.au

I don't know of a support group, I'm trying meds. But if you find one let me know. I already have four perminate bald spots from pulling hair on my head.
