We should be harder on those in the church because we should know better. According to the Bible we are not to keep company and not allow them to gather with the saints. Harsh? NO! God says this so that we do not fall into the same sin.
I am going through this now. My best friend is living in sin and are still trying to act "HOLY." I am not to associate with him because it will lower the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
One other thing that would be nice, if you are an unbeliever you should not answer questions that have to do with the Bible since you are so scared to pick a Bible up. What is wrong, scared God might rub off on you.
Anyway, I am glad that if you have questions, there is a forum to get others opinions. Even the ones that do not know what the Bible says. I was told I was rude in several of my answers, but some answers that these so-called TOLERANT people are downright hateful and degrading, yet I answer like that and I am intolerant. Talk about DOUBLE-STANDARDS!!!!!!!

1 Corinthians 5:9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people-- 10 not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 11 But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler--not even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? 13 God judges those outside. "Purge the evil person from among you."
They have to be taken in the whole context of God's word. On the one hand the church isn't supposed to pretend that everything is all right when a member is living in sin and refusing to repent. On the other hand we always seek to have the person come to repentence and to be restored to the church body.
Galatians 6:1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

1 Corinthians 5:1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. 2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. 3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, 4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: 8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
The Apostal Paul is commanding us to Judge any man that is called a brother(member of our Church) who is a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat(take communion or allow to take communion or be a member of the Church=Expel from fellowship).

Please post up the scriptures that you reference.
You can do this with an edit.
( there is also the ability to post the scriptures as additional commints (e) when you initially posted )
( forcing people to look up scripture will get you far less answers )

It appears that we are not to keep company with sexually immoral people.
I think he is referring to those inside the Church (i.e., anyone named a brother), and not those in the World because God will judge them.

We as Christians do not need to have any social contact with people who sin continually.
