I dont fear God. Dont get me wrong, I'm not keen on him some days either, but I dont fear him.
I dont know for certain a darned thing about this thing called God. I leave that debate to academics. But I do know some days I am lucky enough to see the beauty and wisdom of a flower petal, the perpetual seasons, a hot shower and a good cup of coffee. Those things make me profoundly happy - and when I can reach a state of joy through simple things I feel connected to something larger than myself that I simply call bliss - and as far as I'm concerned, thats God - all that other stuff attributed to him - the destruction, the vengence, the judgement etc - thats man in a cheap disguise as far as I'm concerned.
Good Question though....
Peace.

The bible says there is no fear in love, so God doesn't want us to be forced into loving him through fear. Fear and love are total opposites.

Consider the following two passages from the Bible:
"1Jo 4:16 And we have seen and had faith in the love which God has for us. God is love, and everyone who has love is in God, and God is in him.
1Jo 4:17 In this way love is made complete in us, so that we may be without fear on the day of judging, because as he is, so are we in this world.
1Jo 4:18 There is no fear in love: true love has no room for fear, because where fear is, there is pain; and he who is not free from fear is not complete in love.
1Jo 4:19 We have the power of loving, because he first had love for us."
"2Ti 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of self-control."
In the Bible, the word 'fear' has more than one meaning. Which meaning is determined by the context and by the original Greek/Hebrew word.

Here's what the Bible teaches about your question.
1 John 4:16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. 19 We love because he first loved us. 20 If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

You fear what God can do at the blink of an eye, but you do not love Him out of fear.

Great observation. I think faith is the bridge between fear of God and love for God.

Fearing God simply means having a holy respect for Him....not be afraid of Him. Respect and love go hand in hand.

Why would loving God bring fear to one? Or, why would one fear the Lord? Surrender to loving Him and to His love, there is naught to fear there.

I hold no fear for my Heavenly Father. As with my earthly father, I know if I do wrong, I will be punished. I know the rules and I choose to adhere to them without compromise, so I have nothing to fear.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 KJV Love God for who is but still fear him. And still fear hell. (basically: serve God for God and fear hell for the eternal torture of it) Fear. Is both fear (being afraid) and fear (honor)!
