Ok, I've been nagging my parents about getting me a cell phone. They both said "No!". I even gave them reasons. Like for emergencies, when I go out with friends, after school even when walking home from school. I've heard all about those child predetors and kidnappers. I mean I usally go to the mall with my friends almost every weekend and the mall doesn't have payphones. Heres also a little story the one time we went there. Me and 2 other girls were at the food court and there was some guy walking around with a video camera at first we thought he was doing something for like a school project because he looked about high school age. Well both my friends had to go to the bathroom. So I was standing out there waiting for them when the guy sits down and points his camera at me the whole time I was standing there. I was freaked out!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm 12 and I do volleyball and cheerleading after school too. So like can people give me answer's PLEASE! Thanks.

He's right, 12 year olds have no business owning a cell phone. A cell phone is a serious committment, not a toy. I did not get my first cell phone until about 8 years ago, when I was 18, and have been paying for it on my own ever since.

Huh, thats a hard question, sweetie. I wanted a cell phone at twelve too, and literally tried everything in my power to convince my parents-- to no avail! I still got the phone in 9th grade. And 2 b honest, it doesn't exactly sound as though u really need a cell phone UNTIL high school. Stick with borrowing a friend's cell for a while because there is probabaly nothing that will change your parents' minds.

Save up some cans and bottles, and get the money to buy your own phone. You can buy a cheap little phone from just about any drug store for about 20 bucks, then you need a little more money for airtime. You don't need your parents to have a cellphone.

well since u are 12 they might still think u r young, try to talk them into getting u a pay as u go phone and tell them u can help pay for it by doing house chores and stuff like that. With a pay as u go u phone calls are kinda limited so maybe they will get u that instead. good luck

My parents did not get me one either when I wanted one. I agree that it is a good idea while you are away from home. Have your parents said why they don't want you to have one? Is it too expensive? Do they think you are too young? Find out their reasons for not wanting you to have one.
My niece who is 11 years old wants one too and she has not gotten one yet either. She finally was able to get her ears pierced though.

i bought my 3 kids cell phones when each of them reached age 8. it is really convenient - i can communicate with them any time i want if they re not home
