Just keep bringing on this question so the religious can start questioning the validity of their own beloved bible. Any willing to do their research will find the bible is plagiarized out of the Sumerian text and the primitives got most of it wrong.

Yes, I thought about it too. But, then I thought about it with an open mind, and decided to study it out for myself. If you study Daniel Chapter Two and Daniel Chapter Seven, and allow the Bible to interpret itself, you will be amazed. I used to laugh and make fun of Christians all the time, and I agree that there are many Christians, who are Christians merely because of their tradition (i.e. Mom and Dad,etc.). And many Christians have no idea why that believe what they do, which is very sad because there is so much evidence out there that confirms the verity of the Scriptures. The Bible does not hide the fact that men took part in writing the Bible (See 2 Peter 1:21) But, God wrote with His finger the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17), how many people today honor those? I see that you are searching so that is a great thing. Check out this website, and look at the Bible Study Guides, Amazing Facts indeed.

The word is inspired. Yes it was men that wrote it. If we told you that God came out of heaven, wrote the book, and then went back would you believe it then? I don't think so. And if we told you that angels came from heaven and wrote the bible, would you then believe it? I don't think so. So do you see that you leave no one any choice than to tell you the truth, that inspired men wrote the Bible?
And then there is the complexity of how the Bible came about. I mean, it wasn't "The Bible" at first, it was a lot of writings that were later put together, and quite well I might add.
But the point to that is; it's a bit more complicated than you are allowing by your question. Your question can now be modified? Perhaps you'd like to take this information like a thinking person who is not biased against it, but rather learning about something, and then making a judgement about it later?
I hope so. There's so little of that these days.

I have studied the Bible and it is obvious to me that it is indeed the word of God for these reasons:
Although God used 40 different men to pen the words over a period of 1,610 years, their writings agree, even in the smallest detail. These men came from vastly different backgrounds, such as herdsman, tax collector, physician, king, and prophet.
Its contents are scientifically sound on matters that human researchers discovered only at a later date such as the shape of our planet, the water cycle, DNA, and animal life
It is filled with prophecies reflecting detailed knowledge of the future
Although written thousands of years ago, it's instructions are still practical for daily living
In order to understand and appreciate all of this and more about the Bible, one must undertake a study of it personally with an open mind.

The Bible is the INSPIRED Word of God, meaning God is in TOTAL control of everything and would not allow anyone to ruin His loving Guide He gave us to live by. God knows humans are not perfect and make mistakes. Do you really think the Creator of all missed that one? No, He told these men in HIS perfect way what to write. His Word is perfect and no mere man will upset God's Plans!! You are giving man way too much credit for God's work. Man was the means God gave us His Word. Ever thought about that? I have. That's the trust we christians have and live by. God bless

It was written by some 40 human secretaries over a period of 16 centuries, but God himself actively directed the writing by his spirit. Consider the following verses.
2 Tim. 3:16,17: "All scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work."
Rev. 1:1: " A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to show his slaves the things that must shortly take place."
2 Peter 1:20,21: "For you know this first, that no prophecy of Scripture springs from any private interpretation. For prophecy was at no time brought by man's will, but men spoke from God as they were borne along by holy spirit."
"The Bible is the most widely read book in history. It is probably also the most influential. More copies have been distributed of the Bible than of any other book. It has also been translated more times into more languages than any other book."--The World Book Encyclopedia

sounds like you answered your own question. so why ask it if you already know the answer?
Men are human, and all humans make mistakes. Again, you make a point we all know, so what is your point? You are inferring that the Bible has mistakes. Maybe it does and maybe it doesn't, the point is whether or not you believe it or not? If you believe it, knowing there are mistakes will not matter to you, if you do not believe it, knowing there are mistakes proves your point of not believing in God.
Do you believe in God? I do! I believe that the bible is the word of God and shows us how to live our lives in a humane and passionate way.
God bless!

It was inspired by God. Jesus was God's son in the flesh and many of the words that are written in the Bible. But most of all this is about faith. I believe that God loves me so much that He would not have allowed them to make a mistake in the words that written. Plus, I am able to use it as a guide and through prayer he further guides me.

It is refered to as the word of god because when the jews were under greek occupation the cultural influences upon them were so great that for the first time their Torah had to be translated into a different language: Many jews now spoke only greek!
When it was translated it was called 'the book' in greek: bible.
The bible is called the word of god because it is the greek translation of the torah, which the jews considered the word of god.
