Im kinda nervous. I've known him for nearly a year now and he knew furthur in the beginning of our friendship that I liked him but he had a girlfriend then. Im thinking Im gonna ask him who he likes and depending on his answer and if he asks me who I like Im gonna tell him that it's obvious that I like him but I dont want to like him if he doesnt like me back....I dont know if that sounds mean or not though. Like, we've been hanging out a lot lately and I kinda got the vibe that he liked me but I just wanna know. So do you think that sounds good, or do you guys have any other suggestions. I dont wanna just blurt it out to him though I want it to be kinda subtle. Ahh, Im so nervous. Hahaha

Probably the best thing I think you could do is not ask him directly point blank, "who do you like." I mean you can do it if you want but if you're so nervous about his answer maybe it would be better to do it indirectly. Flirt with him, tell him how good he looks, that he's handsome, hot whatever...complement him etc. so if he starts saying the same things back to you eventually he'll asked you out and maybe his girlfriend, BUT if he doesn't respond the way you want you can always say, "we're just friends, I can't tell my friend he's hot..." either way it's a win win situation for you.

Lets think of this in a buisness sence Profit/loss. Ok if you ask him if he likes you (assuming he catches the drift and says no because he is scared to say yes, or because he feels wrong saying yes because he has a girlfriend then its a loss. If he says yes because he thinks your referring to you as a friend then you will get a false positive.

Perhaps you need to rethink the question a bit. Sure "do you like me" gives you wiggle room if the question gets out of hand but if you ask something like "hey if you didnt have a girlfriend would you go out with me" something like that or "would i be worth breaking up with your current girlfriend for".

You can claim its information for another relationship if he says no, or persue it if its yes. Just try to avoid "like" it has too many meanings

No sense in pining over him if he doesn't like you back. I think that sounds fine.
