If its fresh wash it with soap and water. After, dab a little honey on it ( the fresher the better ) this will keep infection out and encourage new skin to grow. Then leave it alone, uncovered, to air and sunlight.

I had a cut on my knuckle that just wouldn't heal, because every time I washed or wiped my hands the bandage would come off or ointment the ointment would rub off... and when I bent my fingers it would open the cut up again.... what worked for me was an antiseptic liquid bandage from "New Skin". It's like nail-polish, and you just paint it exactly where you need it. Once it's dry, it’s flexible, waterproof and stays on until you take it off, or if you leave it on for more than a day, then it will start to peel off as the skin it's bonded to sloughs off (natural process). The package also claimed that the liquid bandage is ‘breathable’ but I had no way to prove that… all I know is that it wasn’t uncomfortable or itchy, and the cut healed in a week.

My skin scars easily, and I noticed that the cut healed with practically no scar when I used the liquid bandage. There are other brands out there that would work just as well as 'New Skin' ... I think 'Band-Aid' has a great one too. There's also a spray-on version of the liquid bandage as well.

A scab isn't necessary for the healing process. Keping is covered and moist will also help prevent any scarring. Moist skin does heal, it's just that many of us are used to having scabs on grazed knees, but either way it will heal, depending on how much skin was scraped off. It takes some time.

Just try rubbing a little egg white into the graze and leave the air to get to it.The oldest form of treatment I know about is egg white and oxygen. I have seen it used in hospitals to treat bed sores and things. The egg white has all the protein building blocks to heal the wound and the oxygen makes the egg white react faster... quite an obvious 'plaster' when you think about it.

Use calendula cream and then cover - change dressing once a day. Do this for three days, then keep uncovered but clean. Hope this helped! (Calendula is also less painful than savlon!)
