I mean at anytime in your life.

was it like physical pain? if so what part of your body hurt?

I personally I believe ( my belief ) it is your soul that hurts. I think we are a trinity and our mind, body , and soul are three different things that make us.

I just wonder how a non-believer would explain it.

If you feel it where do you feel it?

So are you saying if its in the mind then your head should hurt?

Are you saying when your feelings get hurt your brain feels a pain sensation, or does it send it to a body part?

There is a mind and body, but no soul. How could a soul exist, separate from the mind, yet somehow influence you? Or are you the "soul" that somehow controls the mind, but not really because the mind can be influenced by drugs? It's very confusing, this idea of a soul.

Science has proven every thought and action originates in the brain. Every one. There is no invisible third entity that does anything.

To answer your question, yes I've had my feeling hurt, and my brain responded to it chemically.

it hurts my feelings that you would ask such a question.

the word you're looking for is 'emotions' - that's another way of saying 'feelings' in the non-physical sense.

emotions do have some physical explanation .. they are influenced a lot by endorphins and hormones and other chemicals sloshing around inside your body.

as a non-believer (in 'souls' amongst other things) I don't think that we are a 'trinity'. I think we are a *unity* - our mind, 'soul' (i.e. feelings) and body are all caused by material, physical things. but those physical things are mostly very, very small, and have very, very fast and complicated interreactions.

we just don't know enough to explain exactly how everything works yet. maybe we never will. but that doesn't mean there's such a thing as a 'soul'

Of course I've had my feelings hurt. Sometimes, very badly. At times, it was all in my head. At other times, I was so upset it made me sick. Nowadays, if I get really worked up, my emotions can trigger migraine headaches, or can give me chest pains related to my heart.

How would I explain it? Emotions have measurable physiological qualities related to the release of hormones and activity in the limbic system (which, not surprisingly, are mutually reinforcing). Control some of the chemicals coursing through your body, and you control, to an extent, the feelings associated with them...which is why, for example, my migraine medicine works even when the trigger was emotional pain.

It's an interesting question, I do admit, but it initially hurts in the brain, then the brain sends stress signals to the rest of your body. That makes your heart beat faster, your breathing increases, and all the other physical reactions that come with stress.
I don't attach a supernatural significance to it.

"If you prick us, do we not bleed?"

Of course atheists experience "hurt" feelings, just like anyone else!!

And sure, I've had my feelings hurt so badly that I feel a pain in my chest. Do I think my soul is located there? No I do not. The body can physically react to an emotion, however. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/03283/229822.stm

Ever been so happy you felt almost high? Ever been so sad you felt tired? Ever been so confused your head ached?

Yes, many, many times.

It was a very unpleasant to say the least.

Emotional pain can be felt as physical symptoms, since the brain is the central receptor for both.

im not a believer, so if I dont have a soul it is impossible that it hurts. soul is a concept not a part of the body, the soul is like a state of mine... you just believe that we all got soul, others dont... nobody knows where is it? can you explain or demostrate where is it???

Okay, you can believe whatever you want. You can believe that the earth is made of liver and onions, as far as I care. But we can't all be right. There can only be one right answer.
I don't believe that we are made up of a "trinity". When anyone gets their feelings hurt, it is just an instinctual human response to rejection by society.

I've had my feelings hurt so many times, I'd be rich if I asked for monetary compensation. Anyone that can feel any emotion can have their "feelings" hurt. It's got nothing to do with a soul.

Now you've hurt my feelings by asking if I'd ever had my feelings hurt. -sniff-whimper

i feel it in my big toe. j/k that's kind of a funny question. do you think we experience emotion differently? or that we can't experience emotional pain without a soul? well anyway, i don't think i feel anything physical when someone simply hurts my feelings... but when i'm really sad, i feel it in my chest. that's because you use your thoracic muscles when you cry, and they begin to contract even if you don't actually produce any tears.
