I am an MD. I am not trained in felines, but if this were a human, the diagnosis would likely be a bleeding stomach ulcer. Tape worms could also cause this. This can be life threatening if enough blood is lost. I would call your vet back and ask if the $200 charge included a stool guaiac.(this is a test for blood in the stool). I was told once that vets don't do guaiacs on the stool of carnivores because of the high false positive rate because their food is so full of meat. Feeding your kitty milk will help heal a stomach ulcer, and maybe a little OTC Zantac, maybe 1/2 of a 75mg tablet twice daily would help also. Maybe also try a different vet.

Black poop is probably from charcoal given to help with the vomiting.whatever your currently feeding her/him stop its making her sick.
check around the house for plants that she/he could be chewing on. Some are poisonous to felines. With the problem with the contaminated pet food still going on, i suggest getting some fresh beef liver and boiling it lightly and mashing it for your cat, also some canned salmon (the human grade) would be good for it too.
The fact that its still pooping is good as that would indicate no bowel obstruction.
You could gather a small sample of it and do a smear to check for blood,, add water
yoou didn't say whether the cat is peeing ok, that should be checked too.

i would consider a new vet if i were you, that vet doesn't sound helpful, and a technician may have messed something up, id get an appointment somewhere else and tell them the situation.

Unfortunately for your wallet, I would reccommend bringing your kitty back to the vet.

Good Luck
