Mayweather won, and should have been ahead on all the cards... Oscar always had trouble with speed (although in his prime, those guys would just give him a hard time, not beat him) But today's De la Hoya isn't the same fighter from 10 years ago...
The outcome wasn't much of a surprise- except for crazy old Floyd senior :)

I honestly think De la Hoya won. sure, mayweather got in more punches on De La Hoya, but if you look at the way judges should score fights, Oscar won. He was definately the more aggressive and energetic fighter. Mayweather said he was going to give Oscar a beating. But he never did. when you saw the end of the fight, Mayweather had a black eye and a bloddy nose. Oscar still looked Golden. but hey, that's my opinion. Mayweather won and that's that, but i still think Oscar should have won. Or at least a draw. good debatable question though

I thought Mayweather did enough to win the fight. I would've loved to have seen some brawling. But Floyd isn't a brawler. He's a boxer. I think Oscar wanted to brawl and Mayweather was smart enough to know he couldn't brawl with Oscar and win the fight. What you saw on Saturday night were 2 different types of boxers. One is your typical Latino Brawler. The other is really a boxing professional. When these two styles meet the brawler spends most of the time chasing the boxer. The boxer spends most of his time counter-punching the brawler. The fight was a smart one by Mayweather because he wouldn't let Oscar nor the De La Hoya fan club (the crowd) get him to try and change his fight plan. More power to Floyd I hope he retires undefeated and starts to enjoy time with his children.

look when i watched the fight yesterday and found out the results i was pissed i punched my wall and cracked it a little.
but im not a person whos going to lie and say oscar won. mayweather blocked and avoided most of golden boys punches. and he did get some good hits on oscar. but damm
could mayweather at least have made it into a fight he ran all night . but eather way oscar shut his mouth . i thouth mayweather was going to stand toe to toe with osacar. at least thats what he said.

De la hoya, he pushed the fight. as he said, if i didnt push the fight, there wouldnt have been one. it seemed to me he landed more then an average of 10 punches per round. he certainly threw together some nice combinations when floyd was on the ropes or in the corner. Good fight. but it goes to Oscar!

I think if you believe HBO hyping this as "the fight that will save boxing," then boxing is finished.
That said, I'm not a big DeLaHoya fan, but I feel he should not have lost his title...Mayweather didn't take the fight to the champ. He sat back and countered the entire fight...rarely attacking.
Give me 2 tomato can heavyweights beating each other's brains in anytime.

You know why boxing is going down......watch Mayweather "hit" and "run" tactic....I'm sorry but when you box you have to actually "box". I like Floyd very much but this match against DLH was sooooo not what I expect...so that means if i box, all I have to do to win the match is hit one or even two times and run away, and rather the punches are feather shots as long as it hits the face or body, I win the fight??....man I'm in the wrong profession...where can I sign up?

I think the judges thought they were scoring a running backwards race that is why Gayweather won. I never have much respect no matter how good a fighter thinks they are when they run away all night.
