My brother has always been a kind, loving person. All of a sudden, he went on a rampage and attacked several people in my family including me. He is now in jail. A friend of ours has requested that we do "Deliverance" on my brother. She asked if he has accepted Jesus Christ and I told her yes. He has been baptized. She told me that his soul can't be possessed but his body can, and that is what has happened to him. So, my question is, what is "Deliverance" and do you think it will work? No wise cracks or rude remarks please. I am going through a very rough time right now and I really can't handle rude people. So, if you want to be rude, please do it on someone else's question. Thank you for your insight.

Some people have suggested that he is on drugs. I talked to the guards at the jail and he is acting normal. He isn't having withdrawals or acting in any way like he has been on drugs.

Deliverance is the practice of removing an unwanted spirit from a human host.
Nobody can determine if it will work or not, except for your brother...if he is legitimately under the influence of possession.

Deliverance is a type of ministry that sets free a man bound by ungodly spirits. These spirits have various methods of entry, at any point in a person's life, and the only way they can enter is via sin. Even born-again Christians get "attacked" and inhabited by spirits. But guess what? These spirits do not have entitlement over any man's body, because Jesus has already had victory over the demons, with the shedding of his blood! In Jesus name, these demons tremble! They know they've been defeated, but deceive us into thinking they can inhabit a man like a parasite. There is no entitlement, except to Jesus!

"And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils" -- Mark 16:17 KJV

The Church don't do any Deliverance according to the Mind of the Holy Spirit, Evil Spirit's need a Warm Moist place to Dwell and somewhere they can control. The Church Cast Demons out only for them to return later, because they find No REST. The Whole Church Allows Spiritualism. Out of one person into another.

He could be on drugs it sound somewhat like it.

But a Christian would not do drugs unless he has backslid.

I don't know your brother but I will tell you what the scriptures say. When you are saved or delivered the devil leaves you, when he was saved the devil left him. But if you turn back the devil will return with seven more. And that person will be seven times worse than before.

Read Matthew 12:43-45

It will take a person with the power of God to deliver a person. A weak Christian or someone who is not a Christian can be hurt by a person bound by the devil.

I have to go along with Hey Ray on this one. If he is save, the blood of Jesus redeems the "whole" individual and not just parts.

However, the Apostle Paul did say we are not at war against flesh and blood. But against principalities and powers.

The word powers is used in the original, showing active physical and mental strength. With this being a spiritual warfare that's not flesh and blood, that leaves the "mental strength.

Whose weapons of warfare are those on a mental
plane, and their attacks are their psychological abilities.

Some of the same psychological tactics used in the Garden of Eden, to charm, to entice, to seduce and to deceive Eve.

Prayer is the only solution to his situation - If He Is Saved. That is if he is truly Bron Again.

Deliverance is to free a person from evil spirits.

There are some good books on the subject. Derek Prince and Francis Mac Nutt both have good books out.

He needs deliverance from whatever caused him to attack his family. A saved person cant be possessed or completely controlled but they can listen the the enemy the devil and believe the lies he tells them and then commit sin and allow the enemy access, yet He still has self control . he can be angry yet the bible says sin not. he needs prayer and to repent_ to change the way he did things. hope this helps God bless. and self control is the fruit of the spirit of God or revelation the God is in Him

Christians can not be possessed. Demons can not be in the body of a Christian . . . Christ will not share the same house with a demon . . .

Sounds like drugs

if it is drugs . . . He needs sobriety . . . let the law do its job . . . jail can be a real eyeopener.

Christians (if he is a Christian - being baptized is not proof) can rebel . . . they can play "slave" to their 'flesh' and act like little kids . . . rebellious . . . God can handle him . . . stay out of the way and pray that God is merciful . . . Prayer is your action . . . God is committed to turning his people around

IT would be wise to dig into your brothers recent history. When was the last time he had a physical or blood work done? Find out if there has been sudden drug abuse, physical abuse or something that just happened to make him angry. If you go to a church ask a spiritual leader.

1st off, your body cannot be demon-possessed if you are saved. your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit and therefore in possession of God.

deliverance is basically Godly help. he may not be demonic, but he may have some isssues (or stress related insanity) to work out. Saved people cannot be driven mad by demons, but stress is still a human factor. not a spirit of insanity, but a condition.

Deliverance is basically asking God to intervene and help him take steps to his rehab and recovery, such as speaking to him and letting him know how much God loves him, or making him realize he needs to repent. it's basically like taking a burden off of him, being 'delivered' from those torments.

hope that helps!
