Women are no longer forced into a nun's life. If they choose to live cloistered, that is their own decision.

Could you post links please?
I was called by God to a consecrated life. I would dearly love to go to a cloister. But sadly, my vocation is IN the world.
No one forces these women to do this. They do this with great joy and love in their hearts.
They are not slaves. They are not doing anything against their will. They love what they do. They are free to leave the cloister should it become a burden to them. All they need is dispensation. For instance, Mother Nadine Brown was once a cloistered nun. She was called to a more charismatic yet still very prayerful vocation.
We have several cloisters near me. Dominican sisters and Franciscan sisters. They are all quite joyful.

What are you talking about? I think you've read some mis-information. Cloistered nuns aren't held captive, they simply choose to live a life away from the world and in quiet contemplation of their god. They are free to leave any time they choose, and in fact many do after just a few years.

First of all, let me tell you no one is forcing anyone.
I have full knowledge of these nuns, i have come in contact with such nuns and they are really kind people
god has chosen them to do what they are doing, something we need to applaud them for, they are doing god's will
they live such a life, pleading with god and interceeding with his mother and all the saints, oh please have mercy on the whole world
and it is because of their constant prayers that we live.
sin is increasing (literally with the increasing population also)
it really hurts god
everytime we commit a sin, we cruxify chrsit
give him that pain
these nuns filled with the holy spirit do this, pray and do counselling,
they say that if christ could bear the sins of the world, and walk the way of calavry, what they are dong is noting
god has mercy opn the world, cuz we have a few among us, praying to save us
no the govenrment shouls not interfere these nuns have renounced life on their own will becaus ethwe have been called and want to do so.
and no one can force anyopne to do such a thing
i've emt them, they are so calm, away formt his world, so lovely
please don't say anything that will hurt them

Very few people like u have the ability to feel other's pain. Normally people accept a tradition in the name of religion. Cruelty is perpetrated in the name of religion. Anything persistently imposed on anyone for dress code or living code amounts to cruelty. Those who adopt such lifestyle also feel suffocated at some point of time though when they enter it they feel relieved from the misery of life temporarily. But later on they feel exploited and their life wasted. Life is important and everyone is entitled to normal life and happiness. It is because of financial reasons or family circumstances that people take a turn to this way of life. A survey should be conducted and true and fearless opinion collected. Of course NGOs should come forward to analyze true state of affairs and their misery must be relieved.

I believe that the Bible itself is *NOT* where the idea of nuns or convents developed. God values & appreciates women, providing loving guidance for fathers, husbands, & children that they should be loving toward the 'feminine ones'.

Funny every nun/sister I have ever known has been nothing if not joyful. This is not the middle ages, they freely choose to enter.I have spent time on retreats with them. I wanted to become one but health issues prevented so I am simply a Secular Franciscan.

Nuns choose to be cloistered or not. It is not forced. It is not cruel. This is the life they have chosen. Many nuns do not remain cloistered but go on and become teachers, doctors , nurses, missionaries.

I couldn't put myself in their place, but if they feel so strongly that God wants them to live their life in that manner, then so be it and good for them. I feel it's too bad that so many people cannot or will not allow God to have that much control and to live their lives with God as the foremost thing in their life. Of course, government should have no say so in how you or them choose to love their God. Our fore fathers saw that no one should control how you worship and love your God!
