$50? can i be your kid? i never got any money like that i was always expected to do my chores, but then if i really wanted something like a new pair of shoes or $20 to go to movies and dinner with my frieds, as long as my job was done i got it and could go have fun. $50 a week is way too much for a kid if they are young start them off by like .25 a day and as they get older and do more stuff go up every so much when they are old enough to go out with there friends alone then they should be makeing $15-20 a week and if they are in highschool and keep there housework and homework up then $25. and if they want more money then that and are old enough tell them to get a real jiob. if they are not old enough to get a job then they can do extra chores around the house like when the lawn needs to be mowed say $15 to whoever mows the lawn or $10 if you do the dishes this week so i dont have too,

I'm not sure what your trying to say but if you asking when you a child start getting an allowance and is $50 enough I would say about the age of 7 and $50 is way too much. $5 or $10 is enough you dont want them to have so much money that they can spend it on junk. Also, if you give them less money the child will learn how to save their money and how to work for their money and respect money more.

A child should never get $50 a week. Even a 15 year old shouldn't get more than $30-35 a week.

My children have always had chores around the house. Now that they are older, 10 & 9, they have more chores to do including pets, and so we are giving them an allowance of $4 every other week. Payday is every other week so that's when they get paid. In addition to their chores they need to be obedient and finish up their school work. We are teaching them to save their money and to tithe to church. That way if they want something they have to pay for it. Unless daddy and mommy are feeling generous and decide to treat the kids to a movie, lunch, dinner, or something else. We provide popcorn, some video games, and soda. If they want something else, they have to pay for it.
This way they are more frugal with their money and they are less likely to blow it all on candy or toys. They are actually seeing how is it to earn money and how long it takes to save for something big. Sometimes with big projects at home my husband will offer to give them a little extra for helping. They have over $100 saved and that's because they have spent money here and there for things they have wanted.

To All Answeres Who Said They Don't Believe In Giving Their Child Allowances:
It is good to pay your child. Not because of a reward, but for your child to learn the value of money. I understand what you're saying, and you're right, most kids nowadays just do their chores because they know they're going to get money. But I get it because my dad wants me to learn the value of money, that it doesn't grow on trees.

My kids do jobs around the house as they are a part of a family and need to help. They do get pocket money when I can afford it and I started at the age of 4 to teach them responsibility with money and how to save and the value of a dollar. They are 8 now and great with money. At 4 they got $1 now at 8 they get $2.50. Some of their money goes to the church, some for buying presents and some for them selves. One rule i have is NO BUYING LOLLIES

$50 is way to much money. And really, they shouldn't get it weekly. They should get it for doing EXTRA chores. So if they cut the grass, give them a couple bucks. But I wouldn't do anything weekly.

hello,
I don't charge for food, clean clothes, clean bedding, housekeeping, and I sure don't pay you when I'm the one providing the services. But I would happily take the 50$ for all that I do. Oh that's right there is no 50$!!
