I can see evidence of life evolving and I never feel the urge to 'believe in' something I have never seen.

I thnk you might be talking about an addiction.
Belief in the Biblical sense (and a lot of Bible believers don't seem to do this either) has to do with having a sound mind. Corrupt means decay means decompose. Therefore a mind that composes is a clean mind. This is related to belief. Even though Job was a man who was eloquent in the face of personal disaster and God appreciated it even if he did start blaming God for his woes, one of his false comforters used the Devil's technique (accusation) and said in Job 10:4, "You say to God, 'My beliefs are flawless and I am pure in your sight.'" However, 2 Thessalonians 2:9, 10 - "The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved." This seems analogous to the dragon-voiced lamb calling down fire to the earth (Revelation 13:13). The earth is connected to saints and prophets in Revelation 18:24. Therefore, I'm sticking with belief in personal truth as an ongoing goal in life.
