How do you break up with someone?

How do you break up with someone who doesn't want to break up? He has keys to my apartment and won't give them back. I break up with him and he says he's ok with it, but then he comes back a few days later. I would be fine if he would just stay out of my life, but he comes back and I am weak when he does come around because I don't have any one else.

You're in a very bad situation you must find a good solution to let them down in the solution is being straightforward and you have a mannerism that says I do not want to hurt you but I do not want to be with you please give me back my key there are some people when you say that to them they want to go on a suicide depression depending on that situation you must still be firm because your life is not over you must go forward in life. Even in if they say that I'm going to kill myself nine out 10 times they don't really mean it is just their emotions talking and keep in mind once you break up with him do not get back with him is that it's a repetitive cycle that you do not need in life good luck.

I know is tough to end a relation in both ways. But you should try to look for some sort of activity (if you don't have a lot of friends) where you can meet new people. Go to the gym more often and call those friends that you might forgot about instead of calling him. You will see you are going to even refresh your contacts. And don't try to insist about the key, because its going to be the reason one you guys are keeping somehow in touch!!! Just change the luck and If he wont come back if you don't let him...but its a long process...you just have to be strong!!!!

I personally think that you are unsure if you want to truly leave him or not. There is so many things you can do to tell him to leave, you just choose not to accept the ideas that you have came to.
but my ideas I have if I was in your situation
I would tell him that I would like to have my key back, and to stay out of my life, and if you don't I will press stalking harassment charges against you

Threaten him with a restraining order, have someone else around at the time (say a family member or something). Just the threat should be enough.

Dont feel bad about having to resort to this, its his own dumb fault for not leaving.

b strong change ur door locks and stay away from him for few days if he keeps stalkin u get this order called restraining order i think b string if u dont think he is the right guy then dont hang around him surround urself with friends and relax the right guy is out somewhere i think and one more thing that right guy is not me kidding :P

Politley ask him to give back your keys, if he does not this is an issue to call the cops about, because he could rape you without warning. After this also get a restraining order against him.

change the locks, call the cops, or just get a guy to come stay with you, so when he does come he gets the s*** beat out of him

change the locks and your phone number, cellphone too, and avoid places where he will be, after a while he will get the hint and go away, I've done this before and it works like a charm!

stop sending mixed messages. don't weaken just cause the di(k might be good. be strong, stand firm and let him know that its over.or else he will continue to treat you like that. anyway he doesn't respect you cause he doesn't take anything you have to say seriously.
