Not unless the plaque is under the gum line and your gums are sensitive. You can't feel a thing when the teeth are being scraped, but you will if they need to get right down next to the gums. One way to toughen up the gums is to use floss regularly. You need to be doing that anyway so your teeth won't get loose in the gums. You don't want to have to have false teeth because of that. Swish a capful of peroxide around in your mouth after flossing, but spit it out - don't swallow it.

Depends. If it's reg cleaning, no, it'll tickle but that's it. If it's root scaling, then you might have discomfort. They may give you a numbing shot so you won't feel a thing. If ur afraid of the pain, tell ur dentist and he/she can help.

It can hurt if you don't your brush your regularly they just get the dirt off the teeth.
