OMG...My idol who's a wonderful singer is a born-again christian....why and how did that come about, she doesn't seem to be following their(false) ways!!

Mariah did got her start in Gospel and Christian music.
look at her early albums like "A Mairah Carey Christmas"
and anything before the Butterfly Album.
i think that she is more of a "Was a born again Christian"

People do many things for very different reasons. There are lots of life changing events that can take place in a life that would cause someone to be born again. Perhaps she's had one that hasn't been publicized.
Is she truly 'born again'? I don't know. The best christians I've ever know would be mortified to know that people are running around preaching. They always felt that leading by example was the best way.
Maybe she's going to lead by example. Maybe she's going to keep her belief between her and God. Why not? Not everyone has to be Evangelical (though the evangelicals might dissagree).
Discression is the better part of valor, as they say.

But I can tell you what "Born Again" is......
Being "Born Again" is when a human being directs their heart
away from absorption in the world and directs their heart towards God, surrenders to God, and makes it clear in "Gods Eyes", that their attention is fixed firmly on God and God alone..........
If Mariah Carey has made this commitment then she is indeed "Born Again".
