Why I find that to be positively imponderable.

Oh,of course they are serious. Hell,it's their whole life as far as I can tell,on here every night promoting the atheist creed like there was a circus coming to town. As far as being creepy, some atheists are fine people but you won't find too much of that type here. Creepy? Hmmm. Well, quite a lot of them I'd say.

Why not? Surly, you can understand that if someone believes in God, then there are people who do not. That is simple logic, and I know that if you have had algebra, then you can ponder it.

Why consider it creepy? Do you see atheists burning down buildings, bombing people, or otherwise committing horrible crimes against humanity? What has an atheist done to harm you, your family, your friends?

Why would people not be serious about not believing in god, about not following their intelligence & logic, about refusing to worship a supreme being that 80% of the world's population does not believe in (as no more than 20% of the world's religion believes in one type of god)?

So an atheist can't be serious about their belief that deities are non-existent but christianity can be serious they do? Everyone has the right to believe as they will. Many people may find your deity 'creepy'.

You aren't the first believer to find the thought of living without their security blanket a bit creepy.

I can assure you that we are quite serious about this creepy atheism stuff. (Some of us might have a discussion about the scope and denotation of the term "atheism", but beyond that we are quite serious.)

Not knowing quite where you are coming from or where you are in your life, I do not know who to advice you to read.

Daniel C. Dennett's "Breaking the Spell" maybe?

If nothing else, please read the following: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atheism

You may not understand it but god does not exist. You need to realize that. And I find it much more creepy to believe in some hateful deity.

You're having a hard time accepting that people don't believe in a god? Is that what you are asking?

If that's the case, you might want to step outside of your little religious bubble every now and then.
