Everything that has ever happened, will happen, is possible of happening. Every future, every death, every breath that is taken, every potential life, and the ultimate future, the outcome of his 'war' with Satan.
Why does he bother through with it? If he knows he would win, without a doubt, and know exactly how it would play out, and the end result ...
Then why bother with creating the human race and all the time in between creation and final death? Why give humans such a great time to squirm and struggle on earth? Is it out of sadism, having designed a brilliantly prolonged suffering to go along with his victory?
Coming from an Agnostic looking for a plausible argument. Intelligent answers only.

In response to the second post; Yes, indeed, there is a specific god in relation to Christianity. To say that there is only "God Almighty" is to be in denial of other's worship, and is incredibly foolish and clannish.

And you cannot stand the notion that your perfect deity does not exist, and that there is no guarantee of a worthwhile future after death.
By most perspectives, Satan would be a God in himself. Consider the power he is said to have, what he controls, who he controls, and with such ease. Lesser titles belittle such abilities.

Judas -
I had pondered a similar analogy myself, though with different results. However, would you just bring in a new friend to watch the movie, for the sake of gathering their reaction? What if it was a particularly painful reaction, and you knew it would be so? Would you still drag your friend in to watch the movie to watch him suffer?

I never said that he would control other's actions. All-knowing does not mean forceful - it means it can see the action, regardless of whatever it would be.
That's quite a simple concept :/

The simple answer is because He's God and He can do what he wants. From the beginning of time,it was so that God might show His glory to us. We were created for that very purpose (Isaiah 43:6-7) to see and savor the glory of God. Psalm 19:1 says that "the heavens declare the glory of God." This was all created for the very purpose of bring God glory. Even though he knew the "fall of man" would happen he planned to use it for His glory.

You have discovered a Paradox. Something that will not and cannot be answered, at least to a level of satisfaction by the world as a whole.
If God is all knowing then we do not have free will because that would mean when you are born God would already know if you are going to heaven or hell. And I find that awful. To think God would create someone just to suffer for eternity.. To me a loving God wouldn’t do that..
But since we can’t even begin to surmise what a God’s reason is for doing what they do, the answer will always be unclear.
Why does God bother? Millions of reasons.
Maybe so you would ask this question on Yahoo answers and unknowingly partake in some divine subplot to enrich someone else’s life.. Who knows…
Although you will never get a real answer to this question I am interested to see what other perspectives are out there.
Good luck on your quest!

God doesn't know ALL, as in everything. Free will.
The closest I can figure is that God had a plan with man and man screwed it up.
Now, let's play what if. What if we're a lab experiment and we suddenly turned into a violent, virillent, dangerous, contagious virus.
Should God let it live of should he incinderate it or put it on a rocket and send it into the Sun.,
What would you want Science to do.
Science tinkers with AIDs trying to find a cure in the process of doing that accidnetailly makes it AIRBORN, which means YOU CAN GET AIDS by breathing the area of a person with AIDS.
Now, what would you want science to do with that.
Science KNOWS the outcome. If it escapes it could kill most of the world in 2 years.
Now God has an experiment with man and man screws up and God gives up on man.
God considered KILLING off man with a flood, but changes his mind.
God whats to see WHAT MAN will do and IF MAN as the spark of whatever it is GOD wanted to see originally before MAN SCREWED UP.
End of times is about that.
God will take THOSE who have learned their lesson properly away and those who don't say on the scortched Earth.
The FREE WILL comes in WHO will get saved and WHO will NOT.
That is the basic concept.
Now, if this is an Arcade Game and the Bible is a Cheat Sheet, that's the way you look at it, except the BIBLE is not straightforward. It's more like list of clues not a printed cheat sheet.
So you can't fix the game.
You can misread the clues.
YOU are LIABLE for YOUR mistakes.
That is what it boils down to. GOD hold YOU personally responsible for YOURSELF and expects YOU to take responsiblity and not whine and make excuses.
So, whatever path you decide to take, take it, be proud and WHEN GOD COMES and there IS AN END (and even SCIENCE says that will happen one day when the Sun explodes) and there is a way out, don't give lame excuses.
And if your path was the wrong path you lose, along with all the others.
All I can do is point you to the Bible, YOU have to TAKE personal responsibility for what you understand or get out of it or your FAILURE to get anything out of it.
It's a test and if you score 666 you lose!
That's about all we know.

Because He wants us to know Him and love Him! He doesn't need us to, nor is He in need of attention. He knows that it is truly good for us to know Him; it is what truly fulfills us, completes us. But why put us through this time here on earth? Well, if we were just created and right from the start forced to worship God, then we would be akin to mindless robots. On the other hand, true love is a choice. He wants us to make that choice, and truly love Him. That is why we are here, and that is why that is what fulfills us. So often as I go through life, I see and experience so many things that seem so "interesting" or "fun". Then, when I'm finished, these things, things that might not even be morally wrong, seem lacking compared to the goodness of God that I have experienced. God is not sadistic, nor has He created us for no reason. He loves us so much that He simply wants the best for us. Sound simple? It is. He wants us to make the choice to accept the gift of salvation that He has for us; to follow and love Him. It's so cool.

God really created us as a reflection of His relationship with Himself. He said in the beginning let "US" make man in our own image and likeness and give him dominion. satan defied God by thinking he was higher than God and attempted to take over heaven, as a result God threw him out of heaven. So as a result of Adam's choice He ate of the tree of knowledge and caused the sin of disobedience to fall on all mankind. to make everything right He, God the Father sent, Jesus God the Son into the world because no animal or man could live perfectly enough to make a payment for sin, Yet those that accept Christ they are made right with God. Through Jesus' death we are given a chance at eternal life again with God. So really God wants a relationship with us.

What would you have Him do, remove all suffering from the world? That would have Him remove all the humans from the world, for we cause the majority of our own suffering. If a child goes hungry, it is not because God won't let the food into his/her mouth, it's because other people don't feel that they need to share. Most of our wars are fought not over religion as some claim, but for land, oil, water, money, power, etc.. Again, suffering we inflict upon ourselves. God obviously felt that the end result of all this was worth the trouble. He told us not to cause suffering amongst ourselves, (ie "Love thy neighbor as thyself"), but we just can't seem to get it right. This does not make God a sadist...it just means we're too apathetic/lazy/shortsighted/greedy (take your pick) to bother helping one another.

Put it this way. Say you watch a movie and know how it ends. Your friend wants to watch the same movie. You know how it will end. Do you tell her/him how? If so, why? I mean why let him spend money on a movie when YOU can just tell it? Because it is not the same as him experiencing it for himself. Maybe it's the same with God. He lets us live for the sake of living, learning on our own and figuring out for ourselves. Maybe He doesn't even know how it will end for each and everyone of us. I don't know, I'm just guessing here, hopefully it helps a bit.

I can not provide a counter argument because I agree with you.
I often hear that he desires free will in his creation so that people will come to love him on their own.
But again, an all powerfull god can simply skip all of the intermediate process and create beings exactly as they would be had they chosen to love him by free will.
The only logical explanations are that he is either a sadist, extremely bored, or created the universe and moved on.

To me it's kinda like watching your child make mistakes and allowing it so that they can grow and learn. We don't intervene in all their life experiences because we love them enough to let them be their own person, making their own choices and future. Obviously, we as the caretaker of these little ones, guide and protect them. We want these children to grow up to be their own person, not robots. God also loves us so much and does even more for us. We know some of what's going to happen due to our child's behavior, but God knows all, but still loves us so much to let our lives play out in this life. Just like we do not take total control away from our children, God, too doesn't take all the control away from us = choices. May God allow your choices to glorify Him!!

The only plausible argument is that since:
1. There's no evidence (primary)
2. It makes no sense (a distant second by comparison)
The only logical conclusion is that this god doesn't exist.
