Funny you should ask that. When I was a child I use to hide in the back of my mom's closet and read...our family wasn't very nice to one another, and I remember thinking at some point in time, there had to be something other than what I saw around me. There had to be love, justice, mercy, compassion, all those things. That is when I first remember feeling a presence that I would come to know as God.
Much later, when I was in my 40's, I began going to church and studying the bible. One day I was taking a walk and I was thinking about Jesus, and it occurred to me that the person I read about in the bible was familiar to me. I knew Him. And I remembered that presence when I was a child. It had been Him.
That is why I believe.

Simply put, I believe that Jesus really existed, that he was a normal human being who, because the Jews so wanted a Messiah that they thought he was it when he started doing odd things, convinced himself he actually was a Messiah. And, he was slightly more intelligent than the rest of the people of the time, so the miracles he performed, like making a blind man see when washing him with his own saliva, can simply be explained by the lack of proper hygiene at the time. The man probably had dirt in his eyes.
Now, he's been dead for over 2000 years. Dead, decayed, decomposed, rotten, deceased, he has ceased to be. There is no coming back, he is not a Saviour, and will not come back either. He's way too dead to watch over anyone.
I'm not a Christian, I'm an atheist. I believe things I've pondered through and through, and made my own mind about. My own reason, compared to many other things in the world, as imperfect as it may appear, seems like the most logical tool I possess.

I'm not one to gloat, but obviously you're not one to know the facts, either. No Roman, Jewish, or any other historical records confirming the existence of Christ, eh? Tell you what; you research the Jew Maimonides and the Epistle he wrote to Rabbi Jacob ben Netan 'el al-Fayyumi in Yemen in 1172 about "Jesus the Nazarene, may His bones be crushed to powder...", write for me a five-point essay on the impact of Christian belief and influence on the Torah and how Jesus of Nazareth is viewed by post-Babylonian exile jews and their analysis of why they hate Jesus of Nazareth for destroying the jewish belief system. Compare and contrast this historical phenomena with current and modern Messianic Judaism.

I believe in Jesus because I believe.
2000 years from now, any indication of your existence would be wiped out. How do you prove your existence?
The existence of Jesus cannot be be discuss in a flexible manner to any Christian, because that is the foundation of our belief. It is a solid fact to any Christian you discuss this with so why believe in existence Jesus. Because I do.

The arguments are way to lengthy to get into here, but anyone doubting that Jesus actually existed is....well in a word ignorant. Doubting that he is God come in the flesh we can discuss, but you can't intelligently say that you doubt he existed. For a wealth of information on just such proof you should read "The Case for Christ"
The author was an athiest who set out to prove Jesus didn't exist because his wife had become a Christian. The book talks about his studyies and how he became a Christian because he could not logically deny it afterward, but that is an entire book.....as I said too long for this space.

I beleive in Jesus and I follow Him with all my heart.
I went through mental and emotional hell and anguish and only God could have gotten me through this.
I praise the Lord for Jesus. I would not be where I am today without his love, forgiveness, mercy and grace.
See John 3:16,17
My beleifs are from the Bible and what I have experienced in my life they did not have to do with my parents.

I dont just believe Jesus exists, I KNOW He exists. Jesus is just not a holy man, Jesus is God in the flesh. God Bless and have a great day!!

I believe because I want to, not because anyone forced me to.
2000 years from now who is going to say you ever existed? What book will you be in? Does this mean you never existed? Does this mean that you were not important to anyone?
You do not respect my belief or you would not have asked this question or any other like it; nor would you have told me I needed to educate myself.....

sort of both. originally, i believed in Jesus out of fear... but now i put my FAITH in him. now he guides my feet. i just ask for strength to carry on in the direction he wants to take me, and he lovingly gives it to me... i love my daddy up there....
i'm a believer-out-of-fear to a believer-and-worshipper-out-of-love convert. and no one can deny the radical change i've gone through.
i've been freed from lust, anger, lying, cheating, stealing, rebellion, and so much more, and been EMPOWERED to do constructive things. he is glorious!! and i would love to help you out with any more questions you might have.
i would love to talk more about this if you want to!!
