absolutely! i talk to him when i'm tempted to sin, and all that stuff. he definitely is my optimism through hard times (and i would say the only true optimism). for instance, as i was mowing my lawn the other day, i was thinking to myself, i am sadder than i've ever been before. but at the exact same time, i'm happier than i've ever been before!! ahh. gotta love god!!!

I believe you were asking this question with a positive intention. So, I am not wanting to make light of your question.
However, I think it would be best if we turned to God all the time and not just when we are in trouble.

Since I am unsure if there is a god, it gives me no comfort to be able to turn to or talk to something that may or may not be there. As such, I am self reliant, continuing to improve myself.

yes it does comfort me to be able to turn to God, but not just when i am in trouble, I go to him with all my cares, He guides me in every walk of my life.
I also go to him when others are in trouble.
I go to Him when good things happen in my life, because I know that he is the reason.
and He like to hear " thank you" as much as the rest of us.

"I'm spinning around,
get out of my way
I know you're feeling it
cause you like it like this"
I sometimes turn to music when I'm in trouble and that comforts me. POP, ROCK, SOUL, JAZZ, CLASSICAL...whatever seems appropriate at the time, I have eclectic tastes in music.

Yes it does, but one should not turn to God only when you are in trouble but everyday and even on your best day.You cannot shut it off and on.

No of course not. Why would it comfort me to turn to an unknown, unproved, unseen entity; when if I need comfort there are plenty of human beings who are willing to give me the emotional support I need.

No. It comforts me that I can generally handle the trouble by using my own resources and confidence in myself without relying on imaginary beings.
