Hawks and the guys my husband works with both eat squirrels.
Hawks eat meat, just like we do. The difference is they kill only what they plans to eat and death comes swiftly. Unlike humans who torture their meat and make it live in 3 feet piles of poop for weeks before they eat it.

the hawks main diet consists of mice, rats, and bunnies..
but yes they have been known to catch and eat squirrels also.
and its not cool.. its sad :(

My father in law nearly lost his rat terrier to golden eagle one time.
