My daughter did not start walking on her own until she was 15 months old. My pediatrician told me that was perfectly fine and now she does not stop moving!!!

The normal range for children beganning to walk can be from 9-18 months I have seem children start to walk during this period, the averge being about 12 months.I once took care of a child that at did not take a step on her own. she would not even walk if someone helped her. everyone was convinced something was wrong with her. Then at 18 months she got up and started walking like she had been doing it her whole life, she never crawled again. there was nothing mentally or physically wrong with her, she was smarter then most kids her age, she just walked when she was ready.

Hi, my son just started walking just after turning one. A few things that really worked for me were:
1. Jolly Jumper from 6 months help with their legs
2. Wearing a jumper with a hood. Hold on to her hood and get her to walk, then let go with out her knowing.

She may fall on her bum a few times but it is an excellent method.

Dont forget every child is different and walks at different stages. If you are really concerned, ask your maternal health nurse for advise.

Good luck. She will be running around the house in no time!!

My 16 month old daughter still has not started to walk yet either. It varies from child to child and some are quicker to develop than others. It's a good sign that she's already cruising, so there isn't much you need to worry about. I know I didn't start walking until I was close to 2.5 years old, and from what doctors use to say it was a comfort zone.

My first son didn't start walking until he was 14 months old. As a matter of fact, he started walking on his own the mother's day after he turned one ( his b-day is in March) It was the sweetest thing! And perfectly normal.

My son started walking at about 13 to 14 months, every baby is different, but all beautiful, maybe just hold her hands more entice her with something to walk to, say you have someone holding a great toy with all the lights going, she is going to want it, so hold her up by the hands and she will get herself going, just encourage. All babys develope differently though, so i wouldnt stress about it.

I that sounds very normal, the fact that she is even showing interest in walking on furniture and cruising around is great. Try not to worry and give her time. Keep encouraging her!!

No my son didn't start about 13 months he took his first step at 11 months and that was it he didn't want to do it again but me and his father sat on the floor cross from each other and we just had him walk back and forth till he got the hang of it. Not all kids are going to start at one all kids develop and different times so just keep working with her she get it sooner or later

My baby girl didn't start walking until she was 15 months. My doctor was telling me that his son didn't start walking untl he was almost 2! They were really worried about him, but he's grown up now and fine. So, kids just develop at different paces. Try not to worry!

this is completely normal, i have five children and all of them walked at different rates, some exceptionally early (9months) and some a little later... my last son is 15 months and still doesnt walk although he was a preemie so its more "normal".
I really wouldnt worry about it... my first son walked at 10 months, but couldnt sit until 12 months...

every child is different... i really wouldnt worry about it.
