In NYC, the top schools are Columbia and NYU.
Cooper Union, Poltechnic Univeristy, Stevens Institute (actually in Hoboken) are good Engineering Schools.
Cooper Union, Pratt, Parsons (New School), SVA are good art schools.
Julliard for Music.
Fordham, Wagner, and Manhattan are OK.

'good' is a relative term. What do you want to study? Columbia is great unless you want to learn to bake pastry. FIT is wonderful but they don't have a good business school. There are amazing design schools, culinary institutes, business schools, etc... It all depends on what you want to study.
I'll pretend I'm not ancient and give you some unsolicited advice: Don't look for a "good school". Look for a "good school for you".
