He is a really intense individual who lets his emotions get the best of him sometimes. However he usually always comes back and explains himself and he does a lot of charity... and he is one of the best, most versatile drivers in the world.

Tony Stewart is as good a driver as any, but his team is a slight notch lower than the Johnson, Gordon, and Kyle Busch teams of Hendrick Motorsports. The three best pure drivers in NASCAR are Juan Montoya, Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart.
If Stewart was racing in Jimmy Johnson's team, he would have had five victories this year.
It is the team and entire organization behind the driver more than the driver itself that dictates the outcome of the race.
As such, Casey Mears is not as good a driver as most NASCAR drivers. To have the other three Hendrick Motorsports drivers doing so well and Mears so bad can only be explained by saying Mears is a poor driver.
Out of 37 drivers, Casey Mears is ranked 32nd in "Average Running Position". This stat only includes position while the car is running, so wrecks (bad luck) do not count in this statistic.
I can see Mears getting the boot to make way for a more capable driver.
Tony Stewart is as good as any present or past NASCAR driver.

I just absolutly love the man. He has got heart. I respect him for telling everyone like it is. He is the best driver there is right now. He can race anything. I dont see how whether you like him or not, how anyone can disrespect someone for racing with everything he has. Thats why he is totally disappointed and angry when he doesnt have a finish he knows hes capable of. I dont like gordon or any of the hendrick cars, but they are all great people. They all have their charities and give back. I am not going to sit here and call these very talented drivers pansies and whiners. They are all talented in their own right. I love someone who tells it like it is. I have met him before, and he is the kindest person there is, like I am sure all of them are. But when you get on the racetrack, its like having 2 personalities. They ALL become someone else. Who cares what he said about nascar? I will always be a fan of his no matter what he says. By the way, gordon won all of his championships under the old points system(where it was easier to win). So lets see if he can stay at the top, cause smoke hasnt hit his stride yet, but he will(like the summer of '05, where he won 5 out of 7 races in a row). He will get there. He just needs some momentum. Tony is just an all around racer, you always hear of him racing on almost all his days off, not many of the drivers do that. He has got passion for racing. It just blows my mind to see people hate him so much for speaking his mind on his own radio show. You guys get to speak your mind here, and no one calls you whiners. Give him the respect he deserves. See you at Eldora!!!!

I think hes a heck of a race car driver, even though his attitude stinks sometimes. Dale Earnhardt was the same way-he was the one of the best drivers ever but he had some major attitude problems. I like Tony as a driver and Im sure tht hes a perfectly wonderful person off the track. You can tell he loves to race!!

I think he's the very best driver in nascar. When he won his last cup Mark Martin even said: "Tony, you're the best" I have been a fan of Tony's since he first came into the cup series. Being a fan hasn't always been easy because he has shown his butt a few times. But I am not a fair weather fan, I continue to be his supporter.
I was able to meet Tony last month when he stopped at the Home Depot where I live. What an awesome guy. Off the track he's a total gentleman, on the track he's Tony the Tiger, a fierce competitor very much like the late Dale Earnhardt. If you remember, a lot of people did not like Dale Sr. either.

I think what you see is what you get with Tony Stewart. He seems genuine whether he's being outspoken or joking away from the track. I don't think there's any pretense of being something he's not. From my perspective on his driving skills he seems talented but at times lets emotion drive the car. Obviously he has the desire to win burning brightly. He's entertaining to watch and has a lot more personality than some of the drivers. He's not my favorite but I do enjoy watching him and often find myself cheering for him when my favorite is out of the picture. He seems like a person I'd like to meet.

I wish there were more drivers like him and Harvick in NASCAR. He is a great driver that has raced pretty much everything and won in it all. Some people compared him to AJ Foyt and Dale Sr. They were great racers who were real people. They had opinions and may not have always been correct but they werent afraid to say what they thought even if it might not be the popular answer. I get tired of seeing someone like Johnson, Gordon, and Kenseth talking. They are all great drivers too but they are so boring most of the time. Show some emotion. Its like its all a scripted ad for their sponsers (Mikey is the worst).

Wow, all I see is "Smoke is the best!" or "Smoke wears his heart on his sleeve!. BLAH BLAH BLAH. When Gordon so much as touches someone else all you hear is how "gay" or how much of a "cry baby" he is, or boo hoo Gordon wins to much!!
Think back to Daytona when fat boy ( stewart) ran the 17 into the grass, and called it racin'. Stewart has no heart. its all about him!!! what every he can do to make his life better. His problem is he lets his mouth overload his a s s! then comes back to say he was wrong. Doing it over and over and over and over again.
Tony Stewart will be nothing more than a loud mouth bully!

Tony is the best driver in cup right now, he gets so caught up in it and loses it, which almost never helps him. He seems to have that burning desire that we rarely see anymore, and has natural talent to get as much out of his car as possible. His emotions are almost like a death wish, it certainly not helping him right now. He's very outspoken to say the least, but a Lot of times he is right, he just is not the type of person to tickle Nascar's ear. I admire any person that is just plain straight, I don't think we see enough of it. The average person can tell when a driver is kissing up to Nascar, fans, other drivers, etc
Tony is not my favorite driver, I just think he is the best driver. I DO WISH IT WAS LIKE IT USE TO BE! NOBODY HAS THE DESIRE, GUTS, TO JUST RACE, TELL IT LIKE IT IS PERIOD.

Tony Stewart is one heck of a driver and arguably one of the best out there. He does seem to have a reoccurring case of brain disengagement or foot in mouth disease. He has a temper that makes him real. I would put him in the same class as A.J. Foyt. They both have vi sable tempers and both will go down as one of the all time greats.

He MAY be a talented driver, but he's his own worst enemy. He needs to learn to be less aggressive in his driving and less "drivelly" in his speech. He's always got an excuse for things that are his fault, he's just too ready to blame others and not take responsibility. He causes too many accidents with his aggressive driving and his temper, which makes him a DANGER behind the wheel. Driving a 2-ton vehicle at nearly 200 MPH is not something to be toyed with.
He keeps threatening to quit... so... WHEN will he actually live up to his threat? QUIT, Tony.. like you've promised... over and over and over and over... and over...
and over...
and over... and over... and.....
