it happens everyday like 15 times. Do you keep them or throw them away? I have papers everywhere.

in my house we have a rule. we put up the pictues for a month. after a month we can choose 1 picture that is important to the child then we make a scrap book page with it and toss the rest away. its good that way because then we have a albulm with 12 pictures they drew a year that they can look at and we can see how they have prgressed in there drawings and things, also the kids arnt upset about the ones we toss out because they are excited to to there scrapbook page with the one they kept. also they dont make as many because they want the one they choose for the month to be the best one ever do they work hard on it so they can say that they improved. this is also good for when kids start getting older and more into writing then coloring then they can chose a paper they got a good grade on to scrap book. sometimes my older kids will write a poema nt the younger kids will draw a picture about the poem its fun and brings us closer together and get rid of alot of the mess.

This is a heartbreaking dilemma which I have been through! As much as it hurts, you can't keep them all. Save the ones that are more special, or are more indicative of a skill at a certain age, and you just have to trash the rest (yes, it's hard!) - but make sure the kids don't see you do it, or are able to see them in the garbage - wait a time to do all this. The joy of the 'gift' was in the giving - and your praise for a job well done!
I was an elementary teacher, and had this problem then, too! Kids are just so proud of their coloring and activity pages, and they should be! However, we have to tame the paper tiget!

I got those big expanding files and a cardboard "file cabinet". Every day I posted my daughter's "best" work on the fridge of course and placed the rest into the expanding with the "beginning date" on it. When the file got full I put the "ending date" on it and filed it in the "cabinet". When she turned 18 I gave the the "cabinet" as a birthday gift, she loved looking back at some of the crude childish drawings. I told her it was up to her what she wanted to do with it. She kept some of the drawings, the ones that meant the most to her and threw out the rest.

I put them all in a big rubbermaid tub at first. Every so often I went through the tub and only kept a few special ones. As long as you don't throw them away immediately, the kids forget and are happy as long as you have some of their artwork. I would have loved to keep them all, but there is just no way!

I understand your dilemma. I have 3 young children and they are all the time drawing and coloring pictures for me. I have started rotating pictures. I hang new ones up on my cork-board wall in the kitchen and take the old ones and put in a file by my desk, one for each child. I have them labeled with the child's name and age. At the end of the year I box them up and store them. I remember the look on my Grandmothers face when she would come across something I had made for her and how I felt that she still had it. So I keep as many as I can.

I keep the ones that my kids take their time on. Those ones I have a file cabinet for. If yours is like mine, and sometimes will bring 6-8 a day that they spend a whole 2 minutes on.. those get filed in the trash (when my kids are NOT around to know!)

Well, I tape them to ALL of my kitchen cabinets, and I have a LOT of cabinets!! When the cabinets are all full, which takes MONTHS, I take them all down at one time [sometimes I leave up a few exceptionally nice ones] and throw them away and start over. I have a friend who fills up her cabinets...then...[brace yourself, you're gonna love this]...takes a picture and puts the picture on the fridge, then throws away all the art.

Every week I sit down with my son and we pick out two or three of the ones he likes best. Those go into a scrap book. He knows I can't keep them all but want to keep what he thinks are special. Because they are.

I bought a huge plastic tub that I put them in. I have never thrown anything away.
It helps keep them organized, and out of the way. I take some of them to work, and change it every so often. My mom did it with me, and I am doing it for my kids.
Treasure their artwork, they grow up very fast.
:]

I'm not a parent, but I have a suggestion for you. Hole punch the pages and keep them in a 3-ring-binder. That way, you'll still be able to hang on to them and they can be stashed away if needed.
