This is what a Christian is.....A Christian is a follower of Jesus of Nazareth, referred to as the Christ. Christians believe Jesus to be the Son of God, who lived a life befitting that of the creator of the universe, free of sin and full of love, who at the end of his earthly life was crucified, and then on the third day, rose from the dead, and later ascended into heaven. These beliefs are held by the vast majority of Christian denominations.
Not all follow the "rules", like other people, there are those that take "the law" in to their own hands, and as we can see from network television, that is never a good idea. I am sorry you feel that a belief in God is a bad thing, but it clearly the fault of man that bad things happen to humans, and we have no control over the weather, but we have been ruining the environment, so responsibility can be traced back to mankind again. God isn't an electric collar to shock people into behaving. The world is ours, it is up to each of us to tend to it, and each other.

There is a problem with all monotheist religions. All responsability falls on the only God. Even if the answer is "blame it on the devil", the devil was once created by God as a servant, without free will. So God must have done something wrong at least once. Sorry. On the other hand, all monotheist religions say life is good and death is bad. We now know better than that.

well it is the Devil's influence on this system of things, but people choose how they will lead their lives.

(1 John 5:19) . . .We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one.

This world reflects the personality of the invisible spirit creature who is “misleading the entire inhabited earth.” (Revelation 12:9) Satan is hateful, deceptive, and cruel. So the world, under his influence, is full of hatred, deceit, and cruelty. That is one reason why there is so much suffering.

This will change, for the better, believe me, things will get better!

A second reason why there is so much suffering is that mankind has been imperfect and sinful ever since the rebellion in the garden of Eden. Sinful humans tend to struggle for dominance, and this results in wars, oppression, and suffering. (Ecclesiastes 4:1; 8:9)

A third reason for suffering is “time and unforeseen occurrence.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11) In a world without Jehovah as a protective Ruler, people may suffer because they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
(Ecclesiastes 9:11) . . .; because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all.

God IS a loving God, but is giving people the chance now to make decisions as to how they want to live and who wants to serve him.

(1 John 4:8) He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love.. .

God new every hair on our head before we were born.

He is omnipotent and omnipresent.

Nothing happens without his knowledge and therfore approval.

God knew that Eve would give Adam the apple (or whatever) and that Adam would eat it.

They (all mankind) were set up for failure by a cruel, vindictive, wrathful, flaming sword carrying God of the old testament who changed into a kind, loving, forgiving God in the new testament.

Give me a break.

Man has been fighting man since Oog met Ogg millions of years ago and someone got pissed off or wanted something someone else had.

Some people have not evolved enough and still have the bad gene floating around.

To many resort to violence to resolve minor issues, to many have nots want what others have and are willing to just take it.

Too many have no hope but have dope, children growing up idolizing slutty rock and movie stars and gangstahs,

Yah, ask God why.

Dont believe God gave us free will.

Free will itself shows there is no God as described by scholars.

Your right...it IS the HUMANS that are doing this!
The reason that GOD does NOT stop this or do something about it is because HE gave ALL of us a little thing called "freewill".
HE would LOVE nothing better than for ALL of mankind to get along with each other, but until ALL of mankind realizes that what they are doing is wrong, the same stuff that is going on now will continue to go on.
GOD hopes that we all will choose the RIGHT choice, but, because of the "freewill", HE decided that we all should have a choice between right and wrong. YES, HE knows what we are going to do before we do it, and you might be thinking....if HE knows that, then why can't HE change it, since HE can do everything.....but that is not what HE wants to do. HE does not want to FORCE us to come back to HIM.....HE wants us to WANT to come back to HIM.....
NEVER doubt the LORD.....HE loves us all & HE can not wait for us to return to HIM
GOD BLESS & I WILL KEEP YOU IN MY PRAYERS

He is doing something to stop it.

He has his servants working day and night trying to lead people to the Lord.

Look at the site alone the more of Gods people there is trying to help someone, the more of the devils servants (atheists) are trying to destroy what they do.

Why don't they leave the christian alone and let them do the work of God. We only try to help people.

But after time Gods grace runs out. God then will send judgment on a sinful area. Look at old cities such as Sodom and Gomorrah. Look at the tsunami that hit around Christmas '05. Look at hurricane Katrina.

If God didn't give humans free will then we would simply be puppets - playthings. Giving us free will means risking that we will make poor choices, individually and collectively. I still believe that most of us try to do the right thing most of the time, with varying levels of success. I suppose in the context of your question, God could stike down the "evildoers" but perhaps there is a larger, much longer term plan that we lack the capacity to know or understand.

The best we can do is work to be better people and build better communities and have faith that the rest will take care of itself.

When the topic of God and spirituality comes up I believe it is all your own beliefs that make you who you are.
On this specific question, I found the answer once I had children and they grew to the age of toddler years. Through my own frustration with my children did I see God's point of view.
He gave us free will, which is, in my point of view, the greatest gift of all. When I tell my husband to do specific things for me it doesn't mean the same than if he would do it and surprise me. Love coming from free will and an honest intention is the best of all.
I believe that that love is what God is pleased with most. So, in context, free will also allows us to be free and screw up a lot. My toddlers, for example, have rules to follow but can choose to obey or not to obey. When they do obey (which is more seldom) it really touches my heart.

So, my answer is not based on anything other than opinion and my personal experience with this topic.

I've just been reading about this & have always wondered about bad people.
The truth is they have chosen to turn away from God, od never turns us away. No matter how much God wants them, by their free will they have chosen otherwise, we all have free will & not even God takes that away from us. God can only show & guide us, we have to make the choice.
Just like we don't listen to our parents & we know they're right sometimes!!

The other thing I wanted to say is why I know we have free will is because I have experienced it for myself,
one day (as a smoker) I couldn't find my cigarettes, I looked everywhwre & I couldn't find them...then I thought, may be this is God trying to stop me from smoking & then I was angry with God, & I said to myself: I know smoking is bad for me but I don't want to quit right now..(if u r a smoker u know what I mean)...I swear I found my cigarettes immiditaely after I said this!! it was a really good lesson for me on freedom of choice...but that doesn't mean I'm not doing sth wrong, I mean we have free choice but if we do bad things, we'll bear the consequences. so I might have health problems later on as a reusult of my karma for smoking.
the same way bad people have their choice, but they'll pay a teriible price for what they do one day. that only makes sense becuase I can't imagine anyone getting away with hurting others....
sorry to go on, but i hope this makes sense!

Some will say that it is the devil at work. Some will claim free will.

I say it is because if there is a god, he is so misunderstood by man that we really have no idea what he wants or what he expects of us.

Look at all the scriptures out there. Each one seems to contradict the other. Even the old and new testament are so fundamentally different, it really gives me pause to think that either are correct.
